I’m loving this project. A reader had mentioned that I should do a house before I bought any more charts with houses because it seems people either really like or really dislike doing houses. This one has been fun because I’m loving the tonal thread and seeing how it’s going to end up. In the bottom right corner of the house, there’s a little splotch (I love that word too!) of darker thread and I was a little frustrated by that and then I said . . oh, heck, the darned dog probably chewed the corner of the house, they had to redo some boards and the new paint is brighter than the old pain . . so now I’m happy with it.
Because I’m liking one house doesn’t mean I’ll like all houses so I’m not declaring that I love stitching houses yet . . I just love this one.
The house was supposed to kinda white but that didn’t really show up on this fabric so I went through the overdyes that I have here trying to decide on a color. I almost went with pale yellow but the only pale yellow I had was looking golden/tan and there’s a good bit of a diferent gold/tan in this piece. I wanted to go with lavender but, didn’t think that was a good idea since I once had a lavender house and it wasn’t when I was married to Vince. So . . peachy/pink was my choice.
I love working on the 36 count linen because I only have to use one strand o floss but when it comes to the floss blending with the fabric or a neighboring loss, two strands can be a lot bolder and help stop the blending sometimes. Still, I’m loving using one strand of floss.
Today I should be able to finish the house – the roof and maybe some windows but maybe not all windows and the door or . . maybe not even the roof. We’ll see.

Looking great! I like stitching houses – which is a good thing since I have many little house patterns. I may need to stitch a yellow house tho once I find the “right” color of yellow – I always wanted to live in a yellow house.

The house my parents built before their current home was yellow and I always thought it was so pretty and looked like spring.
I had originally thought I was going to make mostly red houses and use different shades of red but now I’m thinking I might want a “neighborhood” of samplers where all the houses are different colored.

There’s no HOA involved, only Judy! I think you have a good idea with variety. One of our neighbors has just given themselves a yellow front door and it is wonderful!

I love it. No HOA in my cross stitch neighborhood!
