Someone help me! I have things I should be doing besides finding new hobbies, right?
There are probably four or five cross stitch designers that I love but Teresa Kogut is at the top of that list. I love her floss tubes and I like her. She’s mentioned that you can join her Patreon club/group . . I don’t even know what you call it. I had looked into it once but probably got sidetracked because I didn’t sign up. In the floss tube I was watching yesterday, she showed some things people had finished and several of them had been patterns that were available to patreon members only so . . that did it. I went to join but then I was reading that you get so many “charts” per month so I didn’t know if that was cross stitching or punch needle so I wrote her, told her I don’t do punch needle. She wrote me back. The charts are cross stitch but in the meantime, I looked at her punch needle patterns and . . don’t look, Ethel! 🙂
I’m thinking Vince might really like punch needle so I was thinking about getting a pattern, and the “stuff” to do it, then showing it to him and if he wants to try it, he can. I have no idea how to do it but I’m going to figure it out. I’m doing this for Vince so that makes it ok, right?

The first year I went to the Quilt Show in Paducah there was a vendor selling punch needle patterns/supplies. Down the rabbit hole I went! I still have everything I bought but I haven’t completed anything – it’s been years. Now that you have me back doing cross stitch I’ll probably dig out the punch needle stuff and give it a whirl.

Hey, I even completed a couple needle punch patterns. It’s not hard but kind of tedious but then I think cross stitching is tedious too. But then some knitting is tedious too!

My youngest just started doing punch needle…she likes it and said it goes quickly. Maybe this would be something you could do together!

I was at a fair in California, probably 40+ years ago, and there was a demonstration on punch needle (aka Russian punch needle), with a “special” kit that had floss, the needles, some material and a simple pattern. No pressure to buy and they wanted people to “try it” before buying. I was “HOOKED”. We had a HUGE Lee Wards store in the area and like most crafts that I’ve been interested in, I had to make sure I had everything I would need to complete a project.
I still have the original kit, still not finished. Maybe I need to find where it’s hiding, LOL.

I was going to say find it and finish it but that might end up resulting in you having a whole new hobby! 🙂

LOL – I’ve been unearthing all sorts of projects recently. Trying to finish some quilting projects, I have knit 4 blankets this winter and am working on an OLD needlepoint project that I started in the late 1990’s. WHY oh WHY have I started “sew” many things?!?!?

Punch needle is really fun and easy, your granddaughter might enjoy it.
Judy Laquidara says
Oh, that might be perfect for her. Thanks. I’m going to get something I can try and then once I feel confident showing it to her, I’ll look for something she would like and see what she thinks.

I bought and started a punchwork Christmas project about 12 years ago. I, too, saw it at a show and bought the kit. I haven’t seen it quite a while, it must be buried deep, that’s a hint that I need to finish cleaning out and organizing!
If I recall correctly, it’s harder than it looks to get it even and fast, or at least that’s the reason I’m giving for abandoning this project.

I love doing punch needle. I have completed several small items.

Darn it Judy! I have resisted punch needle and a Circuit machine for over a year and here you go talking about punch needle and I looked at the machines the other day! My resolve is so weak right now! And if you haven’t already, you should subscribe to Punch Needle and Primitive Stitcher magazine. So many awesome punch needle and cross stitch designs. Darn it Judy! hahahaha
Judy Laquidara says
If it helps with the Cricut, I bought one and have never learned to use it. Nicole has one and loves it.
Thanks or the magazine info. I’m going to check it out.

I’ve not subscribed to the magazine, but I bought a couple of older issues from The Silver Needle, along with a couple punch needle patterns. I have EVERYTHING…in fact supplies that were never touched from a Xmas many years ago. I’m getting up the nerve to start. BTW, Judy, there are some Youtube videos…

NOooooooo……I can’t afford another hobby….I’m not looking…..well maybe I’ll peek….hahahahaha
Judy Laquidara says
It looks easier and someone mentioned Addie might like it so I will try it .. just not today.

The rabbit hole is deep with no bottom in sight! Just enjoy the journey.

I have gobs of Xstitch. I have fabric beyond two lifetimes! I have beginning punch needle supplies, somewhere. I have yarn. YOU need intervention!!! I don’t have time for all the rabbit holes you make! …..enjoy yourself!!!!
Judy Laquidara says
I probably do need intervention. 🙂

My mother and I did punch needle when I was a kid. We finished lots of projects. If I remember correctly it was really easy. We have a Mill Ends Store in the area that we would go buy yarn at for our projects. My mother did not sew or knit or crochet but she could do embroidery and punch needle so that will give you an idea of how easy it is to do. We made rugs mostly and used them and wore them out.

My guy loves doing punch needle! He’s been doing it for years. When a new grandchild is born he makes them a punch needle stuffed animal – the latest one is an adorable duck, to go with the rubber ducky quilt I made. He’s now doing cross stitch, partly because I told him you got Vince doing it. ?

Vonna Pfeiffer has a great youtube showing how to punch needle. I bought the stuff, but still haven’t used it!! Don’t you want to join my club??
