I’m feeling very lucky that two out of two borders I’ve done have matched. It is luck because I’m not that good and I’m not a precise stitcher. I’m not very precise at anything. Nicole gets frustrated with Chad because when he’s cooking he never measures anything. He says it’s because he never saw me measure anything. I’m sure I did at one point and if I’m making a new bread recipe or baking, I will usually measure. I think I just don’t pay enough attention to stitching to be terribly precise. I’m usually watching floss tubes while stitching and I’m having to stop the video, go find the pattern, order it, restart the video — it’s hard work and quite expensive watching those floss tube videos.
Last night I finished the border on “A House Is . . “
I got to this point and was thinking . . is it going to work?? This would be pretty easy to fudge on and I was prepared to do it if needed.
But it worked!
If you click the link and look at the pattern, there’s so much “stuff” in that border. It almost looks cluttered looking at the picture of all the flowers in it. I think ‘m going to add the flowers where the stems are and see what I think. Maybe it doesn’t need all the flowers . . maybe it does. I just love it now but it does need something where the stems and leaves are for sure.
I’m also not sure if I want to do the house or the words next. It doesn’t really matter because it’s the weekend and weekends are dedicated to Farmhouse Christmas!

it looks to me like all the different flowers in the border balance it out. i think your idea of doing some of the flowers and then seeing how it feels to you is a good one. it is hard for me to envision it with just some of the flowers. i seldom saw my mother use a recipe unless it was something new she was making. maybe that’s why cooking never has appealed to me.
