This is what we’ve resorted to.
Vince sends me a picture of what he’s cooked.
Though I was thinking . . I surely hope you had the dish covered when you put it in the microwave, I leave a nice comment for him and send him a picture of what I’ve cooked. And since I don’t really like red sauce, I’m kinda glad I wasn’t there to eat that but if I was there, he wouldn’t be cooking and if I were the one cooking, it’s doubtful it would be red sauce.
What he made was turkey meatballs (though he made them flat because that was easier he said. Then I forgot what all he told me he put in his sauce.
I made cube steak with onion gravy and mashed potatoes. I had sauerkraut too.
I’ve never liked cube steak. When Vince was here, he bought it and there were a couple of pieces vacuum sealed in the freezer. Yesterday I went out to the garage to get something to cook. I was freezing and grabbed that bag of cube steak thinking . . it needs to be used even though I don’t like it. Came inside and remembered I have frozen breaded chicken breasts which I really don’t like either but like better than cube steak so I fixed one of those last night.
Today I said . . I’ll fix the cube steak. Found this recipe and it was absolutely delicious. I will be making that again!

I use cube steak we get when we buy a quarter side of beef in beef vegetable soup. it is less dry than any roast or even steak that I have used in homemade beef soup. Otherwise, I am like you, I don’t like it.

Oh, I never thought of using it in soup. Thinking about it, the soups I’ve liked the best that others have made may have had cube steak in it.

I never thought of using a soup mix, other than that and cooking them for a LONG time after putting them back into the gravel it is very similar to the way my mom used to make them. I have not made them in a few years, QUITE a few years.

I had not thought of that either and I think it made a great difference. I cut the steaks into strips and am glad to have leftovers for today.
