There is no snow in our forecast for at least the next week. I love the snow. Going to town today and seeing mounds of snow along Center Creek and seeing white for as far as I could see in the pasture down the road, it was just beautiful. At one point, Jeremy looked out and said “Isn’t it just beautiful!” He knows how much I love snow. I don’t even mind shoveling it when it’s like it was this time – grainy and lightweight. It’s that wet, sloppy, back breaking heavy snow I don’t like to shovel.
Last week I didn’t put my trash out because of ice so this week, I really needed to get the can to the road. There was only one way to do that . . make a path.
Honestly, looking at that driveway, you’d think this was a happening place. You’d never know that not a single vehicle had been down the driveway in two weeks . . til today. Besides Jeremy picking me up and bringing me back, the mail man came and then someone else came to bring mail they had received, then a package was left by the garage door so that must have been Fed Ex or UPS.
I went out and shoveled a path just wide enough to get the trash can to the road. I tried to make the path where the tired had been running over the snow so that doesn’t all turn to packed ice tonight but I probably didn’t do a great job. I got the trash can to the road and that’s what I was trying to do so I’m saying “Mission Accomplished”!
I thought . . I really should work on these steps and walkway but I’ve done enough for today. It will be 33 Friday. Even with the high today only being 22, you can see that the sun was melting some of it already so I’m going to wait. I figure Mother Nature made this mess, she can help clean it up, right?

I love the snow too! We are in Washington State and got a foot of snow last weekend. We usually only get a few inches a year. Beautiful! But melting now and will probably be gone in a day or two as temps in mid 40’s today.

I think the snow that leaves quickly may be the kind I like best, especially being here with Rita by myself. It takes a lot of coaxing to get her out and I’m always afraid I’m going to fall, especially with ice under it.

We live in B.C. just above Washington Sate and we too got about a foot of snow. I do not mind it if I done’t have to go out in it. But had to go out today and yesterday for medical appointments. We had an amazing thing happen some one down our street with a riding lawn mower had a plow attachment on the front of his mower and he road it up and down our street clearing off all of the snow. So my only problem was getting out of my drive way. then of course backing into the drive way when I got home. Okay that took about four or five tries but I did manage it so all was good. Our snow too is melting and it really can’t go soon enough for me I have to go out again tomorrow.

Isn’t that how it happens? We stay home on days it’s safe to go out but the one or two (or three in your case) days we have to go out, the roads are bad.

Here in the Pittsburgh, PA area, we’ve had 52″ of snow this year so far, and the average is only 25.5… I was surprised, because I didn’t realize we’d had that much. (Maybe because I stay inside as much as possible when it snows!!) The two forecasts from different places say the next couple of days we’ll either get 6-12″ or 1-3″. Nothing like two totally different forecasts for the same time and place! 🙂 Guess I couldn’t do any better…

I live in Texas because I don’t like the cold! I can handle cold if I have a warm place to stay but this mess in Texas never should have happened! The people causing it do not even live in Texas! That should be mandatory! I am in a hotel right now and have been since Monday. We are equipped for the heat but not this cold weather. And the idiot who thought a rolling black out was a good thing should be hung out in the cold! Can you tell I am a little bit bitter! Water leak, heater not working for a while and a lot of other things we had to do if this had not happened! OK I’m alright now, just had to vent! LOL It will all be good. The Good Lord will take care of us like he always has.

A rolling blackout was fine. They have to do that to preserve the grid. Louisiana and Oklahoma are doing it too. We’re having them here. My power was off one night for a few hours. But Vince has had his power on less than four hours per day for the last three days and we have friends in town who have never had theirs off. Then you see pictures of all the lights on at night in empty building in Dallas, Austin and other cities. It makes no sense at all.
