I love winter and I love snow. I do not love ice. I do not love rolling blackouts. I don’t love temps so low that we have to be concerned about pipes bursting.
I could stand at this window and look out all day. Whoa! Where did that one branch come from. Looks like I have one on steroids but it can definitely stay til it gets warmer.
It made me feel good that the snow was stacked up against the second part of the double pane window and not melting. That must mean the inner glass is doing a good job of keeping the warm air in.
Before I went to bed last night I checked the temp here and in Texas. Here’s MO at 10:48 p.m.
Here it was in Texas at 10:49 p.m.
Not much difference. Cold and snow both places.
Warm weather is coming! By Friday, it will be above freezing here. I’m beginning to believe this is like when we first moved to TX and had 100 days in a row over 100 degrees. By the time it gets above freezing, I think we will have had two full weeks with it not getting above freezing.
It is time for at least enough of a warm up that I can stop worrying about pipes freezing.

Morning! At 6 am , it is -5 degrees with windchill of -27 in OKC. We have snow, but it’s hard to tell the amount because of drifting – probably 5-6 inches. It is a very light snow so I might try to get the snow off the porch, steps and walkway with a small leaf blower. And then round two of the snow starts up on Tuesday afternoon.
The forecast is 35 by Saturday and 50 by Wednesday the 24th

Good morning! It’s 17 degrees at my house in Houston! Our pipes are frozen, but at least we have electricity so far. It was out for about 30 minutes last night. This wasn’t supposed to happen until tonight. Our pipes are wrapped outside and we left cabinet doors open in the kitchen, should have left faucets open too. The snow is pretty, but I’m not going out in it. Sewing all day for me.

It was -20 here in SD at 8 am today. We’ve certainly had worse, so I’m trying not to whine. No wind and the sun is shining – plus the forecast is gradual warming all week. Yay! I didn’t have anywhere to go anyway except for picking up my grocery order and a prescription.

Does Vince have snow? My Austin daughter has 5 inches on top of lots of ice and frozen pipes.
Judy Laquidara says
Yes, he has snow with ice under it but he’s been able to keep the pipes from freezing. He’s kept water dripping on all the inside faucets.
Nelle Coursey says
The only real good thing about all this is it may have killed off all those nasty bugs that we have sometimes! I hope so anyway!
Judy Laquidara says
If this doesn’t do it, they’re around forever because nothing will ever do it. I hope it never gets this cold for this long in Texas again.
