I should have taken a picture but I gobbled two little burgers down before thinking about it.
Yesterday I ended up eating lentil soup for lunch. I had frozen most of it but kept out enough for my lunch.
We bought about 50 pounds of ground beef at the farmers’ market back in September. It was all frozen in individual 1 pound plastic tubes. I’ve never been a huge fan of ground beef but that stuff is so good . . I can’t stop eating it. The meat loaf, stuffed peppers, cabbage rolls . . they’re all unbelievable better with that meat. We’ve bought halves of beef before and I don’t remember the ground meat being this good. I can’t explain it but it’s so good.
I got online to see if Misty Morning Farms had a Facebook page and they did and they offer a CSA membership. It runs May 10 through sometime in mid to late August as I recall. I called Vince and asked him if he cared if I joined and he didn’t. It means I’ll get lots of fresh fruits and veggies without having to do all the work. Pretty neat that I’m getting meat and veggies from the same farmer. I talked to the lady and told her that I was almost out of ground beef but am not going to the farmers’ market because of Covid and she said “I’ll bring some by your house!” Have I said lately how much I love living in MO?
Yesterday afternoon I was wanting ground beef. I took a small tube of meat out and defrosted it in water. I had some Hawaiian rolls (Walmart brand) so I made little hamburgers, toasted the buns, caramelized some onions, added just mustard and mayo to the rolls and those were the best little burgers. I told Vince they were better than Cotton’s (the burger place we like in Lake Charles) and White Castle and promised to make them for him when he gets here.
Since I didn’t use all the meat and since I have plenty of rolls, I think I’m having hamburgers again today.

How exciting that you have found a farm to supply you with veggies AND meat…and kind enough folks to deliver!
Telling Vince about the things you are going to fix for him when he gets to Missouri will have him back to you in no time.
Happy Valentines Day, Judy!

We love ground beef from buying a portion of beef from a local farmer. I think they use better cuts of meat in grinding and it just tastes so good. It also has less fat. I fried up 2 lbs yesterday for chili and got 1 TBL of fat off of it.
Does you ground beef allergy (alpha-gal) flare with farm raised ground beef?

First thing I thought of too!!

Nothing better than local naturally raised foods! Meats are most definitely much better tasting. Congrats on making the CSA decision. We’ve had a share for at least 23years (I can no longer remember when we started). I still garden and grow what I want to freeze/can and we eat the CSA fresh! I’m so happy for you!!!!!

Sounds like a real find – everything you need without raising it yourself.
