I’ve been using the Rolaframe floor stand with the Farmhouse Christmas project because it’s on the 28″ length rollers and that’s hard to hold in my hand.
Dang it . . I see that picture and remember I haven’t cut the brochure off the new recliners that have been here well over a month. OK . . they’re off now but I’m not taking a new picture!
I would like to have the perfect stitching chair. What do y’all use? This recliner isn’t bad. I cannot position the frame so that one leg is on either side of the chair but I can turn it at an angle and have the left side of the frame over my lap and that works well. I’m not even sure how to go about finding the perfect stitching chair because I feel like I have to stitch for a few hours in order to know if it’s really comfortable. Could you see me sitting in a furniture store, with my mask, stitching for three hours?
I have my window and that’s important to me. The lamp shown is the newest one (the one Denise recommended, then twisted my arm and made me buy). The things I like about this lamp:
- There’s a little wire “kick stand” type thing on the base and it folds out and keeps the lamp from tipping forward when you extend the arm. All lamps should do that!
- The light has different levels. I can use it as a dim light or a bright light.
- It very easily converts from a floor lamp to a table lamp.
- There’s no cord to feed through the pole.
- It has a built in cover so don’t have to cover the magnifier with a cloth to keep from causing a fire when the sun shines through the window.
The best thing about using a floor stand is that I can use both hands. Everything on the top side is done with my left hand. Everything on the bottom/wrong side is done with my right hand (I’ve seen flosstubers doing it opposite). That makes the stitching go much faster.
If you’ve never done or seen two handed stitching, Misty Pursel of Luminous Fiber Arts, has a video where she’s stitching. You can watch her video here and move over to about 9:09 to see what I’m talking about.
Speaking of Misty Pursel, she said in that video that she’s going to have a mystery stitch along in July for a Christmas design. I do like her stuff so I may plan on doing that. July seems like a long time from now but I know it will be here really quickly. I like Misty’s designs and I think she has such a soothing voice. Her flosstubes and Sheri from The Loopy Ewe . . they’re both my favorites and I think it’s their calming voice. I wonder if either of the would talk to Boots and try to calm him down.

Try sitting in a dining room type chair, see if that’s easier to work with the floor stand. Just a thought.

I have to use a straighter chair with a smaller bottom – my favourite is a wingback chair. I’m going to have to check out that lamp!

Judy, Rocking Chair Quilts has this table called i think laptable heck not sure on that but the girls have all been getting them as they set in your lap and hold your arms and project up. you might be able to see one or have them show you one on Tuesday nights they have a virtual show at 7pm on their facebook page. They say they are really nice to work with. Just a thought.

This is a great set up. Wish the chair was more narrow so you could put the legs on either side of it. I am thinking chaise lounge! LOL

Buy longer cross pieces so the frame sits on either side of the chair?

I have the small floor stand and the 28″ rollers (which I’m using) are the longest it can accommodate. Once COVID is over and I can go out and shop, I’ll get a better chair so spending $200 on a larger frame isn’t what I’d prefer to do.
