Boots is normally such a sweet, loving kitty but Wednesday, he started biting me. He would just reach up out of nowhere and bite me. He would sometimes bite me in Texas but it was after I’d been in the sewing room all day and he wanted his private time.
Here, he has not been biting. If he had enough social time, he’d go downstairs and sit in the sewing room windows or sleep in the bed down there.
Wednesday, out of the clear blue, he’d bite my hand, my arm and even my feet that were at the end of the recliner and he could reach from the floor.
Yesterday he seemed better til later in the day. I googled “why is my cat biting me?” and read that they could be in pain and have no other way to express that they need help. He hasn’t been purring in a few days either. Even when he’s being nice and I’m petting him, he isn’t purring so I called the vet and they said any time they start doing things out of the ordinary, they should be examined so I’m bringing him in to be checked out.
He’s drawn blood several times but my skin is old and thin but still, I’m sitting here in the recliner with my feet up in the chair so he can’t get to them and I’m halfway afraid of him. I would go put him in the sewing room but I’m afraid he’d get in one of the high up places and I could’t get him down to go to the vet.
He’s still playing with the laser light some but not with the enthusiasm he usually has. Hopefully the vet will find a reason for this weird behavior.

It could be something as simple as a bad tooth. Good to have him checked. Be well Boots.

I’m wondering about a tooth because he ate just the soft parts of his food this morning.

Poor Boots and you. Cat bites hurt. Praying it is something fixable!
Joyce says
Hope the vet can get him all fixed up. It’s too bad our pets can’t tell us what hurts or how they feel!

Good luck! I had a cat that started chewing on metal things around the house. I took her to the vet and spent a bunch of money on tests. Nothing was wrong with her except the vet said the cat had “issues”. I said I wasn’t taking her to a psychiatrist! The cat I have now rarely bites but she does once in a while just to get my attention. But very rarely.

Hope you find out what’s happening with Boots and that it’s a small issue!

Cat bites can be dangerous so I’m glad he’s going to the Doc. They carry a bacteria in their saliva that isn’t good for us humans. I’ve had to be on antibiotic therapy in the past because of bites. I had a home health patient once that had to have IV antibiotic therapy at home for several weeks after her cat bit her. Good thoughts for you and Boots.
Judy Laquidara says
I remember you had told me that in the past. I’m trying to be careful but it’s getting difficult.
