When I started this morning’s blog post late last night, I thought about not writing this: Short of some kind of really weird day . . which I never rule out . . because a statement like that always seems to set the wheels in motion for a wild and crazy day.
Here’s how my day started and since it was after midnight . . it was today. About 1 a.m. I went to bed. I had no idea where Boots was but I figured he was where he always goes as bedtime approaches . . under our bed, safely out of reach of the crazy woman who wants to park his butt in the sewing room for the night. I was tired and went to bed but by about 1:20, he had done his acrobatic act about a dozen times, which involved launching his heavy self off some part of my tired body so I grabbed him and took him downstairs.
I never hear the phone ring when I’m sleeping so I was surprised when I answered it (though I don’t recall it ringing). I figured it was morning and I’d slept through the night. No! It was 1:56 a.m. and there were more calls . . 2:08, 2:22, 2:58, 3:02, 3:18, 4:14, 4:57, 6:17, 7:43 and then there was a two hour respite and the next call was at 9:39 so other than a few brief naps between calls, I slept a total of about two hours . . from 7:43 to 9:39. There was a family emergency and I did need to be on the phone. At 2:13 a.m.., I texted my long time friend who is a night owl. I needed a shoulder! She called and we talked til another family call came in. I called her back, we talked several times during the nights.
Things are kinda ok now. Doctors’ appointments scheduled for tomorrow and next week but it was definitely not a normal morning. Surprisingly, I’m not exhausted or . . I don’t feel exhausted. Hopefully I’ll be in bed early tonight and there will be no problems that I need to be involved with but I am thankful I was able to be in contact and be kept advised of what was happening.
Distance and darkness . . not my friend early this morning. I don’t see well at night and I cannot drive in the dark or I would have been on the road by 2 a.m.
