Yesterday I was sitting cross stitching and Boots was sleeping on the floor. It was so quiet and peaceful.
Then, a bird chirped outside.
He raised his head, listened . . yep, it was a bird!
In a flash he was at the window looking for a bird.
That made me think . . maybe the birds start chirping before daylight. I have no idea but Boots is like an alarm clock. He’s awake and ready for me to wake up about 5:15 a.m.
See those little springs? A friend said her cat loves them so I ordered them for him. He has no interest in them at all. I’ve tossed them around. I’ve dropped them all in front of him and had them bounce and roll around. Nope . . not interested. I even watched some youtube videos to see if I was doing something wrong. Nope . . everyone else’s cats love them and slap them around. I tried playing with them on the wood floor, on the tile, on the carpet. Nope . . not interested.
Thankful:
Today’s topic may be a bit selfish . . or a lot selfish. I know Vince is struggling with getting things done at the house in Texas. I thought about all the things I have going on, which isn’t much, and decided I’d load up Boots and Rita and go back to Texas either Friday or Monday and stay for a week or so and help. I called him and told him I was coming and he said no . . he knows Rita gets upset with the back and forth trips and she ends up with tummy issues. Vince said it’s easier to get things done without the dog and cat there. I told him I could board Boots but I wouldn’t board Rita. He doesn’t want me to come. He told me “You’re more of a fill the boxes and get it done kind of packer. I’m more of a planner, thinker and systematic packer.” He actually doesn’t want my help! Yep, I’m thankful for that! I wasn’t relishing the idea of 10 hours each way in the car with a dog and a cat. I offered and I truly intended to go but Vince knows it’s better for me not to go and he’s sure he’ll have the house on the market “soon”. There may be a buyer and their realtor is wanting to get the appraisal done. Vince told the realtor they can start doing all that in two weeks.
I think part of it is that Vince doesn’t want to risk having to drive and have the movers driving during February so he’s trying to put things off til mid March . . but snow and ice can happen in mid March too but I’m not bringing that up!
So, I’m thankful to not be making a trip to Texas next week.

I thought you’d dropped your hair curlers on the floor !!!! Hope you and Vince are back together soon, it must be hard being apart, is he OK now?

He said if he could taste and smell, he’d feel pretty much back to normal.

I was so glad that my lack of smell & taste didn’t last too long. My husband said it didn’t happen to him at all. It just hits everyone so differently.

I think is the 20th day for Vince to have no taste and smell.

Wishing y’all the best and hoping Vince will be with you in MO in no time.

Maybe by March you can have everything unpacked to make room for the stuff that is coming!
Sara Fridley says
Having a possible buyer interested must be exciting, and definitely incentive to finish the packing. He’ll be in MO with you before you know it. But I’m sure it feels like forever.
BTW – My niece said it took more than a month to get her senses of taste and smell back.

Boots is sounding a lot like our Leroy was – zero interest in toys. At least things meant for cat toys. Not even the laser pointer got his attention, though the look he gave when I tried was hilarious. He did chase the rings off milk jugs quite a bit. And woe to any twist ties that made it to the floor (I did NOT let him keep those!). The only other thing he ever played with was a little tiny rubber ball with nubby fingers that stuck out all over.
It’s probably good that Vince says stay where you are. Sometimes it’s best to stay out of the way, and let them deal with things in their own way. Glad he’s over the covid, other than taste/smell loss.

You know those little plastic cups that come on top of things like DayQuil? One of my cats will play with that for a long time.

Our cats favorite toy lately is the little crescent moon shaped piece I cut off my new boot insoles. You just need to Boots’ ‘thing’ (and once you do he will probably be tired of it in a few days!). We also have a cardboard x shaped scratcher thing that they fight about whose turn it is to sleep on. At least they get some exercise wrestling with each other

I knew it would not take long for your place to sell! People are always looking for land to buy. Unfortunately my sister in law, that I loved, passed away last month. She fought a valiant battle with cancer at least 7 times. But this time it was just too much for her body to fight it. Any way I hope he is with you soon. So sorry he can’t taste or smell right now! Sometimes that is a good thing!
