I love “getting organized” though it’s more fun doing the “getting organized” than it is staying organized.
Last week I came across a site that had all kinds of pages to print to organize the cross stitching obsession. You can find those pages here. There are apps and sites that also help but I do better with paper and pen. Since there’s not a cross stitching shop near me an I’ll probably never spend much time in a real shop, I’ll be fine not using an app.
I had all my fabric in a drawer and it was sorted with the lowest count on top but when I’d go digging for something, it wasn’t always getting put back whee it belonged so I printed the Fabric Inventory sheets on card stock and I keep these in the drawer next to my computer so when I decide to make a pattern, if I already have the chart of if I’m having to buy it, I can see which size/color fabrics I have that might work best.
I did a sheet for 24, 28, 30, 32, 36 and 40 count.
I numbered drawers to match the fabric count and not each count is in its own drawer.
Then I went through all the kits that I had started and made sure I had all the floss I needed and an appropriate fabric and entered those on a kits inventory page.
I have several more that are waiting for fabric or one or two skeins of floss.
It feels good to be organized and hopefully, it’s the kind of organized that will be fairly easy to maintain.

Thank you for the link to the spreadsheets. I’m not sure I’ll use the project tracking ones, but the inventory ones will certainly be handy.

This makes me think of the organizing I did in my drawer of interfacings and fusibles. I have some 2 gallon zip lock bags and I put each type of interfacing or fusible in it’s own zip lock bag and wrote on the bag with a sharpie. Now, I can sort through the drawer and find what I want quickly. Also, if I have smaller pieces of an interfacing or fusible, I can put it back in the zip lock bag, so it all stays together by type. I love it!
