The day seems short when you sleep half the day! Last night my friend from first grade called and we talked and talked. We talk every day but her dad is almost 91 and isn’t doing well at all. We had already talked early in the evening but when she called me about 10:30, I knew she needed to talk and we talked . . and talked, which is always easy for us to do. It was almost 2:30 a.m. when we got off the phone. I had already had to plug my phone in because the battery wasn’t completely charged when we started talking. So, when I woke up a little after 5 a.m., I knew I was going to need a nap. I got up, fed Boots and Rita, took Rita out, read email, did a blog post, and about 6 a.m., decided to go back to bed and slept til Vince called at 9 a.m. He said “Are you still sleeping?” I told him . . it’s not like a normal night . . I didn’t go to bed at 10:30 and sleep til 9. He said “ok”.
I have been on the phone a million times today. I got an overnight package this morning and I was excited . . who would send me that? But it wasn’t for me . . it was for the lady who used to live here. I texted her that I would bring it over. She was in town and said she’s come by on her way back home but she wanted me to look at a quilt top her stepmom had made for her and she wants me to quilt it and I needed to drive my car so I ran over there after I finished my lunch. Then I got home and the mail had come and there was something else she was waiting for and she thought it was coming here. It did so they ran by here this evening and picked it up. Human! I had human contact but we stayed way apart because they’re both out and about all the time.
Speaking of the mail . . the guy at our post office is so nice, I call and I’m so frustrated but he’s always so nice, I never vent to him but dang, it . . how had is it to get the mail the right house? Apparently WAY harder in MO than it was in TX.
I was expecting four small packages today. One was large end pieces of the floor stand (cross stitching). One was some cross stitching fabric I ordered on January 1.
I was sitting at the dining room table working on kitting up some projects when the mail man came. I expected the packages would be big enough that they wouldn’t all fit in the mail box so I was waiting for him to come to the door. Nope, put the mail in the box and drove away. I went out there and it was Angie’s mail and a piece of junk mail – no packages. I came back in, checked tracking . . delivered at 2:44 p.m. It was about 2:48 p.m. when he was here so I knew they couldn’t be far but . . close just isn’t good enough!
I called the post office and the nice, kind guy answered so I explained it to him. Gave him the tracking number and he said he’d call the mail carrier and see what happened.
Mail Guy: I’ll figure it out and he’ll bring the packages to you. If you don’t get them before long, call me back.
Me: What time do y’all close?
Mail Guy: I’ll be here most of the night . . that’s what happens the day after a holiday.
Me: What about dinner? Can I bring you dinner . . or a beer? 🙂
Mail Guy: My wife just brought me dinner but thank you very much. That was very nice of you to offer.
See . . he’s just so darned nice!
Sure enough, within five minutes, the mail guy drove up. He apologized .. had left my packages at a neighbor’s house. I thanked him . . I know I couldn’t do their job but if we didn’t have informed delivery and messages to tell me packages have been delivered, I don’t think I’d get many packages!
Other than that, I did spend a few hours in the sewing room today. I don’t feel like I got as much done a I did yesterday but I did unpack three boxes from the safe room. There are more boxes in thee than I had remembered! 🙁
No cross stitching today. I’ll probably do a bit before bedtime but I have a kitty sharing my chair now so I may just sit and snuggle with him and then go to bed early.

Did you check to see if they show delivered? We’ve had several times when packages were placed on the wrong delivery vehicle and taken back to the post office to be delivered the next day. It’s when they say “Delivered at 2:44 p.m. Left on front porch.” when they obviously were NOT let on our porch that I start to get concerned.

I’m pretty sure those boxes just multiply if you leave them alone, especially if you leave them in the dark!

Now you tell me. I’ll start leaving lights on . . better yet, get busy unpacking!

I know this comment is a few days late, sorry. One of my cats loves to sit in my lap. When she is there, I will postpone getting up if I can because I really like her on my lap. Usually it is my bladder which makes me finally get up. Just can’t wait any longer to go to the bathroom, LOL!
