I’ll never understand Vince and I know he says he’ll never understand me but . . I don’t know . . we’re probably both right to some degree.
You know he drove his car here in November. The he decided he didn’t want to drive “all the way back by himself” so he flew. I wanted to say . . YES! Now you know why I wanted to move back. I’d been doing it 4, 5 sometimes 6 times a year for nine years . . by myself.
So, he flew home and left his car here. I couldn’t believe he was going to depend on a 1996 pickup as his only means of transportation. I know an old vehicle can be dependable but that poor truck has been very neglected and needed work. But, the engine was replaced in late 2007 so maybe it won’t be too bad.
As soon as Vince got back to Texas, he had new tires put on it and then made an appointment with the mechanic we like there “to go over everything and fix it”. Hmmm . . we’ve spent a lot of money on the Honda and Highlander – routine stuff . . still cheaper than buying a new car but that pickup might be costly to get everything fixed.
The first appointment he had . . he ended up with Covid and had to cancel. The second appointment . . they had 7″ of snow so he had to cancel. Yesterday . . third time is the charm. Vince had a friend meet him at the shop, they went out to eat and the guy brought him home.
He isn’t going to have transportation for probably at least three or four days. For Vince, that’s going to be torture.
OK . . here’s where I’m really baffled. He’s supposed to be getting the house ready to put on the market. He called .. he was out in the woods on the lawn mower and the mower broke. I didn’t even ask but . . why was he out in the woods on the mower? Does that have something to do with . . oh, wait . . I think he was probably cutting a path for the realtor to take people around on the property. OK . . that makes sense.
But, he had to call his friend to come back to help him tow the mower back to the house. I guess friend drove the RTV while Vince dealt with the mower. I have no idea because I doubt his friend took his pickup into the woods. Anyway, he found the part that broke on the mower and had to order a new one. I’m not sure if he’s already sold everything else or if he has something else he can use to cut the path.
When we lived in Nevada, MO, we used to see an old guy riding around town on his lawn mower. I guess Vince doesn’t even have that option if he wants to go to town. He has the RTV but really, he wouldn’t drive that to town.
