Sheri has a new Flosstube and I watched it this morning. She also mentioned being thankful for social media. That was kinda funny. I already had heard in previous videos that she chooses a ‘word of the year’ and concentrates on that word during the entire year. She’s even made a cute little cross stitch pillow for her word of the year, 2021.
I think that’s a great idea (the word and the pillow). I was thinking I might want to do a word too but I want mine to be something that’s kind self-improvement. I thought about choosing patience because I am not patient and those closest to me would agree that I could improve on that. I also thought about joy because I feel like now, more than ever, we need to be joyful and sometimes, we have to look for things in which to find joy. I do think I do pretty good about being happy and finding joy but I’m sure I could improve upon that. I thought about grateful or thankful. Do those two words mean the same thing? I need to think about that. I have so much to be thankful for . . I think I need to keep a “journal of thankfulness” so I don’t ever forget all the things.
If I had to choose right now, I think I’d choose thankful but I’m going to spend a lot of time/thought with my word so I want to be sure I choose the best word for me. I’m going to think about it til Wednesday and make my decision then.

My word this year is JOY. If it does not bring me joy, then bye (including people). Last year was kind. I promoted kindness in thought, word and deed. On my FB page I asked friends to please be kind when they posted an unkind thought. Express your opinion but in a kind way on my page. My phrase this year is Sparkle On. I wear lots of sparkles, my clothes are “colourful” so it fits me. My friends think so also. So Sparkle On Judy!!!

Judy, in December you wrote a good post called Perspective. I think you might find your word there if you reread it.
Best wishes.

A friend of mine choose a word yearly. For awhile I bought little circle charms of my word of the year, but I stopped that a couple of years ago. In fact, I dont think I even chose a word for 2020. So this year I chose the word HOPEFUL

We were talking about this type of thing last week at work because a friend was telling me she did this (although I can’t remember what her word was for this year). I told her I’d want more than one word which would describe my thoughts/hopes for this year “2021 – Waiting but Anticipating”.

Yeah, that’s been a thing among bloggers for the last few years, and spread from there, I think. I only involve myself in the quilt world, but I have the impression it’s mostly a crafters thing. I could be wrong, though. There could be mechanics and doctors and dog catchers out there choosing words for the year, too. =)

I think that is a great idea! You can inspire me to do something good!

My word is “industrious.” I like the feeling of totally focusing on whatever I’m doing – whether that’s my paid job, sewing, cooking, being with family, etc.
Judy Laquidara says
Oh, that sounds hard. Not sure I have that much “focus” left in me right now. Good luck!

My word is Sashing. Because I have at least five sets of blocks that need sashing to be finished into quilts. Maybe more! I’ve got it in my head that I don’t like sashing and I’m not sure why.
