Grocery Day

This morning I had an early grocery pickup at Walmart. I’m still trying to figure out the ideal time to pick up groceries. I had been getting the 7 – 8 a.m. time slot but with winter, the streets are sometimes icy that early. I started getting the 8 – 9 a.m. lot but we live out in the suburbs and a lot of the people going to work in Joplin were on the roads at that time and they seem a little impatient with someone going the speed limit on a two lane highway. Much later than 8 – 9 and that interferes with my day. I thought maybe 8 – 9 on Sunday would be good. It was super busy at Walmart and I had to wait for a parking spot but it was only about a 5 minute wait for my groceries to be brought out.

My preference is to get the groceries in Wednesday before the trash man comes on Thursday but til the icy road condition weather is past, I’ll stick with the Sunday pickup, then I’ll go back to 7 – 8 a.m. on Wednesday.

I generally buy groceries every two weeks but with two cars to be driven, I’ve been placing smaller orders and going once a week. I have to go somewhere and where else am I going to go?

I came home and got all the meat out of the original packing, prepped and vacuum sealed.

The best news is they had Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla ice cream back in stock and they hadn’t had that my last several trips.

I love how Walmart will sub things they don’t have and don’t charge extra. I had ordered a 12 pack of Hawaiian Rolls. I know . . they aren’t really made in Hawaii but I still like them. They were out of the 12 pack but subbed the 24 pack for the price of the 12 pack. Can’t beat that.

Those rolls are so good to make the various versions of sliders out there on the Internet. My favorite is the ham and cheese ones. Yum!

My groceries are always ready 30 minutes before my pickup time. Maybe you could choose 10 and get them at 930. You do still have the whole hour window to pickup. Good luck figuring it out!

I’d rather go early and get back home and it seems like I still have the whole day. It’s amazing how getting an hour or so later start seems to disrupt my whole day. Soon the days will be longer and the chances of ice will have yielded to warmer weather and my 7 to 8 a.m. pickup times will be good.

Here, they usually let me know it’s ready for pick up about 10 minutes before my time slot and as the day goes on, they get busier and the wait is longer.

I have never eaten those. I love Sister Schubert where you can keep them in the freezer and just cook as many as you want. Put butter on top of them before you cook them and they melt in your mouth!

I’ve been a great fan of Walmart pickup but my last two orders have been a mess! I’m rethinking my grocery shopping.

I hope that doesn’t happen here. Sorry for you!
