The Things We Say/Share

Ravencliff is Done!

I rarely share songs on Facebook but this song meant a lot to me when Vince was sick and when I’d feel myself about to fall apart, I’d listen to this song. Sometimes it made me cry but in the end, it always reminded me to pray and trust that in the end, whatever happened was in God’s hands.

I shared the song on Facebook on Friday and didn’t know that a friend’s husband had passed away during the night until she commented on my post saying that was a song she needed to hear that day. Today this is part of a note she sent me today.

Judy, I just had to share this with you. Today was my husband’s funeral. I had the soloist sing One Pair of Hands because you had shared that song on FB last week. I did not know what music I wanted & when I heard that song. That was it.

She went on to thank me for sharing the song on Facebook. The day of her husband’s funeral, she writes to thank me! After I read her note, I began thinking . . what were the chances of me posting that song, that day, at that time when I so rarely post songs there. We never know how the words we say will affect others, how our words/actions (even on Facebook and especially on Facebook) can hurt, help, lift others.

I want to be kinder and more considerate. I want to notice people who need uplifting or who need a little pick me up. There are so many hurting people and we often don’t even know they’re hurting. Me guess is we can all do better at treating others the way we want to be treated and that’s something I want to keep front and center as I go through this year . . and hopefully the rest of my life.

Thanks for sharing this. I had never heard this song before. I lost my husband last July. He was living in long term care with covid restrictions but I was fortunate enough to spend his last four days with him.
One of the songs that got me through was Angels Among Us by Alabama.

I think I shared your post that day. I’ve always loved the song. Music touches our soul when words can’t.

We never know when we are helping others. But I am so glad you helped your friend.

I shared your post with that song, also. I had never heard it before. I even found a version by Elvis Presley that I sent to a cousin. She really loves Elvis. Thank you so much for sharing. You never know who may need to hear it.

Actually Elvis never recorded the song. Carroll Roberson wrote the song and is singing that version on YouTube also. He sounds a lot like Elvis. There’s been a lot of comments on the YouTube video about it not being Elvis.

I didn’t know that. I guess it explains why I never knew Elvis sang that song til I saw it a few weeks ago. Thank you!

Thank you so much for this. In this time of turmoil we need to be reminded we are in God’s hands and we need to be more conscious of what we say and write.

One thing this pandemic has done is spur me into contacting people to let them know that they crossed my mind. I would have been hesitant to do this before, but so far I’ve gotten a positive reaction. Sometimes it’s a call and sometimes a short message, but I don’t think it matters how I do it so long as I follow through on the thought.

That is so nice and I bet even if they don’t thank you, they appreciate it.

Somehow I missed the FB post. That pair of hands sustained us through months, now I pray for His continued care as I too go on alone. There are many hands, and voices, that are being His hands on earth for me now. Thank you for this song today, one month.

Donna, I’m praying for you. One month . . probably seems like an eternity ago and just yesterday . . at the same time.
