Boots’ Sleeping Habits

A Funny Addie Story

First, when I was so worried about Vince and my parents, it was very hard for me to write. I’d sit down to write a blog post . . and I couldn’t think of anything to write. That’s when I know I’m stressed beyond my limits . . when I can’t write. No matter what happened, I couldn’t turn it into an interesting story. Now, I can’t stop talking! 🙂 So, all is right again in my little world.

One night I let Boots sleep in our room and he slept like a good pet. He didn’t wake me up much. I kept waking up to see what he was doing and he was sleeping. Sometimes he’d be in a different spot from where I had last seen him so I knew he was moving around at least some. The second night, he jumped from the window to the bed, tried to get in a flat box that was under the bed that was about 1/4 his diameter. When he wanted to get from one side of the bed to the other, he went over my head! When I tried to grab him to take him downstairs so I could sleep, he got back under the bed. I finally caught him and didn’t let him sleep in our room again.

Most days he sleeps all day. Today I haven’t seen him since he went downstairs this morning so he’s down there probably on the bed, sleeping. He won’t sleep tonight so he’s not sleeping in the bedroom.

But yesterday he had played hard all day. He had to be exhausted from all the trips up and down the stairs. It was after midnight when we went to bed. I left the closet door open and I think that’s his hiding spot. He disappeared and slept through the entire night. Once during the night I got up and looked in the closet to see if I could find him. I’m such a chicken – I figured he’d jump out and scare me and I’d never get back to sleep so I didn’t try real hard to find him.

When I got up this morning . . didn’t know where he was, left the bedroom door open so he’d come out when he was ready. It was about 8:30 when he sleepily wandered into the family room. I gave him some food and he went downstairs and I haven’t seen him since.

On the days he plays a lot, he can sleep in our room if he wants but on the days he sleeps all day . . no!

My two cats tag team me. They like to get me up in the night to let them out. One will go out. The other will start pestering me a couple hours later. Does she want out too? No, she wants me to let the other one in. But in another 1-3 hours she does want to go out. Then he pesters me because she’s at the door and he wants me to let her in. You get the picture. It’s supposed to be really nice next week so maybe they will both go out for the night. I need to sleep straight through for a few nights.
