With Vince not here, you’d think I’d have all day to sit and knit or cross stitch or unpack and get the sewing room put together. No . . doesn’t seem to work that way for me. My plan for yesterday was to get my morning chores done and then sit and knit and watch flosstubes all day. I did get the morning chores done, then decided to make egg bites for the freezer.
That’s 13 egg bites, mostly to go into the freezer.
I had started the dishwasher after it was good daylight. We never had much sun today but I try to run the washer, dryer, stove, oven and dishwasher when the sun is out (so I don’t wash during the night) to take advantage of solar power. It isn’t like it makes a huge difference if I do it in the evening or at night but I do try to do it during the day. By the time the egg bites were done, I was able to unpack the dishwasher and put things away.
Then it was lunch and I realized I hadn’t eaten breakfast so I fixed myself more of a brunch type breakfast/lunch.
Then I photographed some new cross stitching supplies, got a chuck roast going in with the sous vide. It will be done today for my dinner. By the time I had that going and the mess cleaned up, it was after 6 p.m. and I hadn’t made my first stitch!
I never did switch to longer needles but I spent a good bit of time trying to get a good picture. I think my dyes are deceiving me! When I went out into the overcast daylight to take a picture, there was no purple, no green. Just light, medium and dark gray!
Is that not the weirdest thing ever. I stood there looking at it and wondering if I was losing my mind.
Then I went into the dining room with the windows open and natural light coming in . . till jut shades of gray. It’s like my eyes are seeing one thing and the pictures are grayscale.
When I went back to start knitting, I had an extra skein there and under the Ott light that I use for knitting, I again saw green and purple.
You can maybe see what I’m seeing in the skein of yarn. Purple and green . . but those colors are brought out by the Ott light. In the outside light, it’s just gray.
I even went to The Loopy Ewe and looked at theirs. They always have the mot true to colors on their photos and there it is . . shades of gray. I’m baffled!
This is the yarn. It’s Malabrigo Rios and the color is Winter Lake. I love Rios. It’s on the lower end of the price range for better yarns. It holds up well and is nice and round and squishy!

No matter what the color–that shawl is beautiful! I so want to finish this baby blanket and start on my first shawl–I have some gorgeous yarn and I’m ready to tackle it!

Good for you for sticking with the baby blanket til it’s done.

Love the pattern and love the yarn – regardless of what color it is! Looks very soft and squishy and snuggly. Happy to hear Vince is doing better.

It’s gorgeous…and I can see some green in the other photos! It’s amazing how the Ott lights bring out the colors!

The OttLite is 5000 kelvin which is high noon summer sun (and full spectrum). It will be interesting to see how it shows up in those conditions. I definitely see the colors you see with the OttLite.
It’s beautiful!

I can see blue or purple in the one where you said it was all gray. Maybe my eyes are deceiving me!! LOL
