This is such worthless chatter but it’s something I’ve been thinking about.
I’ve always known that Boots has some orange-ish undertones. Black Tuxedo with the orange-ish undertones. I saw the orange in the sun in Texas and I see them under the Ott light here (but . . I see purple and green in this shawl too and it isn’t really there) . Boots showed up in about 2012 as a little kitten – not newborn but maybe 4 months old. He was always so friendly and so sweet.
Cat showed up as a grown cat in about 2014. She is feral – hisses at us all the time. We can’t walk up to her but she will occasionally walk up to us and if we don’t make any sudden moves, cough or sneeze, we can pet her a bit. She’s a Tortoise Shell cat – black, orange-ish brown and white.
Could she and Boots be related? I’m almost thinking yes because of the coloring, though I know that’s very normal coloring for cats. But what makes me think not related is . . how did Cat get spayed? My guess is that she was part of the local barn cat program where they catch feral cats, spay or neuter them, vaccinate them, then give them to farmers with barns. But no one within at least 6 or 8 miles of us (except me) got barn cats and the ones I got were white with some orange.
Whether Boots and Cat are related is something I’ll probably never know but I’ll always wonder.
As you can see, I don’t have a lot to think about it seems.
Speaking of Cat, it’s been cold there and Vince said she starts aggravating him about turning on her heat lamp before the temps ever drop down below 40 degrees. That, and the fact that wherever she is, she goes into the shop to use a litter box . . not sure she still qualifies as a feral cat.
I asked Vince . . If the people who want to look at the house buy it, please explain to them about Cat and that she wants that light turned on when it’s cold. Vince said “I’m explaining to any potential buyers that I’m not leaving til it’s warm in Missouri so I’ll be here to take care of Cat.” I laughed . . I wonder what he’s going to do next winter if the house in Texas has sold.
Linda in NE says
One of these days Vince would bet tired of batching it, load up his stuff, turn the place over to a realtor and head for Missouri.
Judy Laquidara says
He has a realtor who has someone who wants it but Vince’s Covid slowed everything down so hopefully within the next week or so, Vince will be able to show it. He still doesn’t want to leave there til March though. I think the potential buyers are ok with that.
Cilla says
My weird mind had visions of you not selling the house in Texas and keeping it just for Cat….LOL. Don’t tell Vince that I said that…….
Judy Laquidara says
If that place was just three or four hours away, we’d keep it and it was a hard decision to give it up but ten hours is just too far away.
Stephani in N. TX says
Surprise, surprise, it’s getting pretty cold here in TX too, with snow predicted for tomorrow. Sunny today, but it’s 36 degrees outside. You really do need a coat to go outside.
Judy Laquidara says
It is and Vince is fixing to get a lot of snow maybe. It all depends – at 36 degrees, I would walk the dog or run to the mail box without a coat. If I were outside for more than a few minutes, I would have a coat on . . even at 45 degrees! This morning it was 24 here when I got up. I went out with Rita without a coat, thinking she was going to be quick. She was not and I was wishing I had on a jacket.
Nelle Coursey says
I bet they would be willing to keep cat because most people want barn cats.
