Plans for January 2

He still has not gone into the kitchen once. I wish we were having the same luck with the dining room table. There are three big windows right by the table and those are the only windows upstairs he can look out. You know how cats are .. he wants to sit high and look out. I’m not putting a cat tree in the dining room. The bedroom that is Vince’s office has a really big widow so I may open that door tomorrow and see if he would be happy to look out in there.

It’s funny to look back at his progress. He’s been here about a week short of two months. At first he would come upstairs for just a minute, and go back down to the sewing room. He gradually started staying upstairs more and now he rarely goes downstairs – only to use the litter box. I put a bowl of food and water in Addie’s bathroom and leave that door open.

I’ve been taking him downstairs at night and putting him in the sewing room, then letting him out in the morning. He’s gotten to where he doesn’t even like going down there at night so last night, I took a Rubbermaid type tote with yarn in it, put it in front of one of the windows in my bedroom, and I already have a small litter box in the bathroom just in case he has to go in the night, and I let him sleep in there. I guess he looked out the window all night . . maybe he got in the bed. I have no idea but he didn’t wake me up so that was fine and I think he liked being close. Not sure that arrangement will work when Vince gets here. He’s a light sleeper and much activity out of Boots is going to wake him. Time will tell. I’d hate to start a new habit with Boots and have to break it when Vince gets here. Guess Vince could always sleep in the sewing room and Boots could sleep in the master bedroom! Probably not!

My cats love to sleep on something that I have worn, like a sweatshirt or T-shiirt. I guess it smells like me…lol! If you want to give him a specific place to be at night, maybe try giving him something to sleep on in that location that you have worn and it smells like you. Maybe an old T-shirt that you are ready to give up? Wear it for a day and then give it to him.
