I try to keep it positive on here. We all have bad days and problems and I always wanted my blog to be a place where people came to be lifted up, not brought down. But, some days, life just takes us in a direction where finding something positive just seems impossible. That’s where I am today.
Yesterday, three friends were taken by this awful virus. All three were older folks but all three had big impacts on my life through many years. One was a husband who passed away and within a few hours, his sweet wife of 60 years passed away. The only bright thing is that I know all three are in a better place. They were all wonderful Christians who had such a positive influence on the community where I grew up for so many, many years and that influence continues through the families they’ve left behind.
Not worse but even more personal – both of my parents have tested positive. Mom last night and Dad woke up feeling bad and went early this afternoon to get tested. They’re 86 and 87 – definitely not at the age where they have the best chances.
And, if it can possibly get worse, my family was all together at Christmas and mom had a sore throat Wednesday, went to the doctor and from what I understand, because she hadn’t had fever, the doctor didn’t feel it was COVID. She felt better Thursday so she went to the family celebration Friday, then started feeling bad again and went and got tested Saturday. My uncle, sister, brother-in-law, nephew, niece and her husband their four kids and at least two boyfriends of two of their girls were there. I’d be surprised if my niece’s husband’s family wasn’t there also but I haven’t heard that they were there.
So, if you’re the praying kind, my entire family needs prayers!
In hindsight, I can say this is one Christmas I’m very happy to have not been with my family for the holidays.
There’s always good news . . though in this case the good isn’t outweighing the bad. I had given my neighbor a jar of freeze dried strawberries for her boys and she returned the jar this afternoon full of homemade cookies. How’s that for perfect timing?

Lifting prayers for your family. Encourage them to consume Zinc Acetate (best to absorb). It will boost their own immune system. Plus vitamin C.
This virus has certainly hit the elderly hard. We have been very fortunate not to have had known exposure. I have only heard of a few people I know who have contracted it and all put one has survived, he was in a nursing home and in terrible health.
Judy Laquidara says
They have been taking Zinc, Vitiamins C and D3.

Verna says
I’m so sorry about your friends. My 85-year-old mother got the virus in September and has recovered. I’m hoping your family will as well.
Linda in NE says
So sorry to hear about the friends you have lost. This virus has taken so many. Sorry, to that your parents have gotten it & others in the family were exposed. Exposure doesn’t necessarily mean they will get it. If your parents were already taking Zinc & Vit. D3 they were already that much ahead. My husband & I have both got it. I’ve always taken the supplements and am on the road to recovery. He’s a day or two behind me and seems to be doing OK, though he’s not good about taking the things he should. He seems to think someone should take care of him so he just sits and waits for that. I haven’t felt well enough to be waiting on someone else and I told him he needs to be looking out for himself more.
Amy (Waunaknit) says
Sorry for your loss. Praying that your parents only have mild issues and recover quickly. (Hugs)

Marie says
Judy, Praying for your Mom and Dad, and all your family that was exposed. God willing none of the others will come down sick and your folks will have a light case of it. Prayers for the families that lost their loved ones to this horrible sickness. And praying for you for comfort, strength, and the ability to get through the next few weeks. May 2021 be so much better for all of us. Hugs.
Deborah K Kuykendall says

Get the doctor to prescribe Ivermectin (not just for worms). It has been shown to stop Covid-19. Not just talk or supposition, but proof.
Darlene says
Lots and lots of prayers for everyone! Gentle hugs, healing hugs and strength, Judy!
Nelle Coursey says
Praying for you and your sweet family. May God be with all of you and protect you. I have heard people say they had a light case of it and I have heard people say they had a bad case of it! My doctor had a bad case but she is now ok and COVID free. Her entire family had it. I am so glad they know what to do now to help people get over this. I have several friends that have it now as well. There are nearly 500 active cases here in Brown County. Please tell Vince to be careful. There are idiots here who are not wearing the mask because it is infringing on their freedoms! They don’t distance, a lot of them are spreading this. The businesses are very good about wearing the masks. I don’t go anywhere except the doctor, pharmacy, Tractor Supply and Brookshires. That is it. My doctor said she would have the vaccine right after the first of the year and Pat and I are on the list for the first ones to get them. Please tell Vince to check with his doctor. I would hate for him to come down with something and you are not here.
Stay safe! Sending you love and friendship.
Carolyn says
You and Your family will be in my prayers.
Susan Nixon says
Yes, of course. I am so sorry.
Cheryl M. says
Prayers to your family. Keep the faith and hope, my in-laws, my husband and I had the virus in November. Both in laws have major underlined health issues and in their 80’s came out OK. Stay positive.
Kathy Rockey says
Judy, I’m prayiing for your loved ones and for you for comfort. Cookies in a jar sound like an angel watching over you already. If it’s any help, I tested positive, even after really being very careful, and my husband did not. I didn’t feel good for 2 weeks, but it is all gone now, and it was never scary. Praise God for that. We’re all your friends here, it’s only fair that you be able to share when you need something from us. Prayers going up!
Sandi B says
Praying for all. And peace and comfort to you. May your parents have a mild case and a full recovery, and none of the rest of the family take ill.
Amy Makson says
Oh my, Judy… so much sadness and scariness. Prayers for sure, and yes, I just read about the low vitamin D levels being a strong ( 80%) indicator of who gets the sickest. Will add all to our prayers. The list is getting very long these days.

Prayers for your parents and all those they were in contact with over the last few weeks.
Today, husband of one of the gals in my quilt guild passed from Covid and heard that she is probably positive too. He had been in our small local hospital that does not have an ICU. They finally found him an ICU bed about 35 miles away from our rural area so he was helicoptered down about two days ago.
Very sad times we are living with.

Donna in KS says
Prayers that all be well with your loved ones. Many have gone to their eternal reward with this virus and from other health issues that are also taking doctor and nurse attention. Prayers for all that are ill, grieving or anxious about loved ones. It was a lonely Christmas for many, one that caused more to focus on that babe in the manger. May you feel the peace that prayer can bring.
Judy Laquidara says
Thank you, Donna. I’m still thinking of you and praying for you and your family.
Andrea in MO says
One death is hard enough to deal with, but three is unimaginable. I agree that it’s a small consolation, but at least the elderly wife did not have to deal with her husband’s passing. I hope your parents have the mildest of cases and are back to their old selves soon. <3
Judy Laquidara says
I’ve thought the same thing.
Thanks. So far, they seem to be doing fairly ok.
Joyce says

Oh my, how sad and scary! Prayers ascending for your parents and the families of those you’ve lost. My daughter, her husband and the girls plan to go into quarantine starting Wednesday for and unspecified amount of time because his police department has a number of officers who now have tested positive in the past few days. He’s off until Wednesday, but once he goes back to work, they don’t want to expose anyone. We’re hoping to sneak in a pizza night with them tomorrow night but she probably will say no that she doesn’t want to take a chance, but we were all together for Christmas and he hasn’t been to work since before that. This is such a horrific disease!
Judy Laquidara says
We finally get to live closer to our grandkids and we have to deal with this. I certainly hope your son-in-law doesn’t come down with it.
marcille s. irwin says

sheryl says
We never hear from her but an uncle told me about it. As far as I know she’s ok. My niece Leigh who worked in Atlanta performing Covid tests has it as do her 3 children. I plan to check on them today.
Diana G aka Cassews says
Condolescences on your friends passing… Prayers said for a healthy recovery of all ..
We have had the covid-19 hit pretty hard and close to our family as well on the Western Slope of Colorado.
We wear a mask, sanitize as much as possible and take the needed vitamins, hoping that neither of us get it.
Dee says
I’m very sorry for your losses and all you are dealing with. I have been reading your blog off and on for a long while now, I’m just not a commenter.
I would highly encourage taking a zinc ionophore such as quercetin to help get the zinc into the cells where it can do a lot of good. An effective form such as zinc picolinate could be helpful, as well. I would also encourage vitamin K2 along with the D3 to prevent calcium accumulation where it doesn’t belong (i.e., calcium oxalate kidney stones, or in the arteries).
In hopes of you finding it useful, I will email an article regarding the virus and various means of immune support, from a pharmacist who provides a great deal of what you might call natural health information.
I will also pray for you and your family. God is a greater help than anything I can do.
Judy Laquidara says
Thank you!
Dee says
Oh! You are welcome! I’m so glad you saw the message, I thought it didn’t post. I just emailed the article.
