Last night I finished a cowl that I started on December 3 as a test knit for another Miss Babs designer.
Please don’t laugh at my hair products there being used for an alternate purpose. Somewhere I have pool noodles that I insert in things like this to keep them from drying with a crease but the noodles are either buried in boxes or still in Texas. My guess is still in Texas so I didn’t waste time searching for them.
This pattern called for one set of Miss Babs Yowza Mini Set of Six. The pattern called for making four repeats. I only made two repeats (with permission of the designer) because this is a Christmas gift and I don’t think I could get it finished in time if I made four repeats. I did use just less than half of the yarn so I have enough yarn to make another two repeat cowl and I’ve already made the chain for the provisional cast on.
This was one of the most relaxing knits I’ve made in a very long time. The repeat was easy to memorize. If I made a mistake, which only happened when I totally wasn’t paying attention, it was easy to catch on the next row and drop down and fix. There’s only one row in the repeat where there was much chance of making a mistake.
As I was knitting, I was thinking I’d have a million ends to weave in but surprisingly, it wasn’t bad. I chatted with a friend on the phone for maybe 15 minutes and was done. I had expected it to take me at least an hour.
It is started with a provisional cast on and then at the end, a kitchener stitch is used to seam it up and make it into a loop. I’ve never minded the kitchener stitch.
I will post once the pattern has been released. I highly recommend this pattern for anyone on your gift list that is knitworthy and would like it. It took me right at two weeks to make it and that was while Vince was here and we were busy unpacking and organizing.

Very pretty! I don’t like to do colorwork, but I would consider doing this one!

That looks harder than you make it sound. Very pretty lacy effect.
