Yesterday when I was going through the yarn, still adding it all to the spreadsheet, I pulled out several bags of yarn that I thought . . I want to use this soon. After about the fourth bag I had set aside, I realized it was all purple. As I continued logging in the yarn, I thought . . I’m going to pick a color per quarter and that’s what I’m going to use. I’m not going to plan ahead but the first quarter is going to be purple and, no doubt, I won’t use everything I’ve pulled but here’s what I’d like to use.
1. Madelinetosh Work Sock
Work Sock is a sport weight yarn and the color is Beautiful Liar. I have 6 skeins, which is 2,400 yards. No idea what I will make yet.
2. Madelinetosh Longrider
This one is DK weight and the color is Raspberry Cordial. I have 6 skeins of it for a total of 1,500 yards.
3. Madelinetosh Chunky
This color is Curiosity and I have 10 skeins which is 1,650 yards.
4. Baa Ram Ewe Winterburn DK
This one is called “light” DK so I could probably get by with using it as sport weight also. The color of this one is Bishopthorpe. I don’t even know where I got this yarn. It’s a British yarn and it’s a blend of Bluefaced Leicester, ecru Masham and dark brown Masham wool. It has excellent reviews so I’m looking forward to using it. I have it in green also.
I have 10 skeins so that’s 2,520 yards.
5. Madelinetosh Farm Twist
This color is Beautiful Liar Solid. I have 9 skeins, which is 2,025 yards. This one is a bit more like worsted weight than DK so I could get by with using it for a pattern that calls for either DK or worsted weight.
Now . . I’ll waste more time deciding what patterns to make!

Those are all beautiful shades of purple! Whatever you decide to make will be great!

I love purple! For me, that amount of yarn is a several year supply, though.

Maybe you need to start with yarn and not patterns. I’m sure it will take you no time to find a yarn you want to use and I imagine it would be easier (and more fun) to find a pattern to match your yarn and then searching to find the yarn to match a pattern.

What gorgeous, gorgeous colours! Despite many years of trying I just can’t master the art of knitting, but if I did then purple would definitely be the colour! Now, if it’s cross stitch then I’m your gal, I have enough thread, fabric and patterns to last several lifetimes! If you ever want to see if a purple shawl would be good for a Scottish winter then I’ll gladly volunteer ?!

The Baa ram ewe yarn knits up beautifully and looks good after numerous washes. It’s also very warm to wear.

Thanks! That’s great to know.

I love all those colors!
