We have been so busy today. I know it isn’t going to sound like much but . . it started at 3 a.m. when Vince turned over in bed, and said “Do you know the internet is off?” What the heck? I’m sound asleep . . how would I know (or why would I care)? Then he went back to sleep and I couldn’t go back to sleep. It’s paid automatically so I knew we didn’t forget to pay it. I know nothing about all the plugs or connections. Then I remembered it all comes into the sewing room and the modem and router are sitting on a shelf and . . Boots could have gotten wild in there last night and done no telling what so I got out of bed, went downstairs, checked on everything down there. It seemed fine. I knew I wasn’t going to go back to sleep so I started a load of laundry, unloaded the dishwasher, mopped the kitchen and it was then 4:30 a.m. I was feeling sleepy so I went back to bed and went back to sleep, then Rita woke up at 5:00. Vince got up with her. I went back to sleep. Then at 6, I heard him on the phone with the internet people. I dozed back off. He came in to tell me that it was a problem on their end and they’d have it fixed by 7:30. I went back to sleep and about 6:20, he came in to tell me it was working again. I got up and about 7:30, I couldn’t hold my eyes open and told him I was going back to bed and unless the house was on fire . . DO NOT WAKE ME! I slept til 9:30.
About noon, he wanted to go to town. Again, I agreed if we could go by Hobby Lobby. I need one of those magnetic things for my patterns. I have one somewhere; had hoped to find it but haven’t. Vince went to Home Depot first, then to Hobby Lobby. They didn’t have it. I needed a big red candle for my table centerpiece that was stored in the shop and the candle had melted. They didn’t have that either. We went to Michael’s to see if they had the magnetic thing. Nope. Then we went to Walmart to get my glasses. Got those, checked for the magnetic thing. Nope. Then we had to go to another Walmart because we got an email that they’re upping the speed of our internet and we need a faster modem (or something). They had one at a different Walmart and Vince had ordered it online and said we’d pick it up. Checked there for the magnetic thing . . no. I’ll have to order it.
Then Vince decided he’d like BBQ for dinner. I said . . get it out because I’m not starting it at home this late so we went by Woody’s and got BBQ chicken.
Came home, wrapped a few more packages. Haven’t knitted. Haven’t done anything crafty today. There’s time to get some knitting done tonight!

Toby knows better than to wake me up unless one of the pups are in trouble or, like you said, the house is on fire. He hates waking me up anyway as I am so not a morning person. He calls it poking the bear at a distance. He usually wriggle my feet with an outstretched arm.

Vince’s updates are like your very own in-house Google alerts!
I thought of you (really, your mom) the other day. I was walking outside to get some exercise, and I twisted my ankle in a hole that was hidden underneath the snow. As I fell to the ground, I thought of your fall the other week and your mom saying, “Judy, only OLD LADIES fall!!” Harsh, and I’m even younger than you! At least I had something to make me laugh during the whole (hole!) painful situation.

Laughter is so good. I’m glad we can still laugh at ourselves and at the memories our crazy actions cause to surface. Glad you weren’t hurt.

Wondering what the magnetic thing is for patterns?
Judy Laquidara says
It’s just a flat metal piece with magnet strips that hold your page onto the metal piece, then there are little magnetic rulers to help you mark your spot.

I am starting to cross stitch again after about thirty years. I will need to look for one of those. My eyes are definitely not as good as they were.

I would be a widow if my husband woke me up like that. I don’t need constant updates about stuff I can’t control, but I do need sleep!

Same here!

Judy, I don’t comment often but wanted to tell you how much I enjoy reading your blog. I laughed out loud about Vince waking you up in the middle of the night to tell you the internet was down. Sleep is a valuable commodity…there should be rules about what does and does not constitute reason for waking a sleeping wife 😉

When Chad was little, I would tell him to not interrupt my shower unless there was smoke or blood. I may need to tell Vince the same thing about waking me at night.
