I’ve already written about how I’m not a decorator – not in any sense of the word and not even for holidays. The people we bought this house from – they just go all out. The inside of their new home looks like it should be featured in a magazine. I told Jeremy that his old house probably feels like Scrooge moved in.
They had always put up some massive outside light display when they lived here. Jeremy told Vince he would leave the lights for him.
The other night Jeremy was here and he said “When are you putting up the outside lights?” He was joking because he knew we weren’t. The back side of this house is probably taller than 30′ off the ground. It isn’t safe for either of us to get on a ladder to even change a light bulb inside!
Jeremy didn’t expect us to do the lights (maybe) and he’s definitely not telling us what to do now that it’s our house but Vince said “You told me you were leaving the lights and you didn’t!” Ahhh . . good comeback Vince!
Jeremy said “I did leave the lights! They’re all in the attic, along with the drawing/diagram of where everything goes, and which plugs to use and the extension cords needed, along with the phone number of the people I hired to put them up and take them down!” I told you that guy was pretty amazing! Vince and I both sat there with our mouths gaping open. A drawing/plan of where all the lights go?
Vince said “I haven’t been in the attic!” We decided it’s probably too late this year but we’ll do it next year. We’ll call the people Jeremy used to hang the lights and take them down and get on their list early. How can we not??
Poor Vince. Last night when I took the picture and was admiring how pretty the mantle looked with the socks hanging, Vince said “Are they part of the Christmas decorations?” I explained that no . . they were just hanging there to dry. They would be moved today. Obviously, he knows that I have no skills when it comes to decorating!

There are people around here who decorate. There is a group in Abilene that does the lights for people. The cost of doing it includes the lights. The people keep them after the season is over. The service even comes and takes them down for them. But that is outside. Next year why not let Addie and Nicole help you decorate inside! I think that would be awesome!

They’re going to this year – hoping to come Saturday. We had to buy a new tree and it just arrived yesterday.

I think you should call the place and ask when they could do it! It may not be too late, after all! I mean, it’s only Dec 3! You have 22 days! And nobody I know takes down lights until after New Years!

Vince is leaving in a week and won’t be back til spring so I think the best thing is to let this one slide til next year.

Thank you! I will take credit for that!
