Boulevardier is a new pullover pattern by Thea Colman. I love so many of her designs but this one . . I really love it. I will make mine with probably not quite as much extra space, though I do want it to be loose and comfy, and I’ll make it a bit longer, maybe just an inch or so.
Yesterday I kept thinking about ordering yarn. I asked myself – I know I have the yarn but can I find it easily? Do I have something I really want to use or this project? I looked at yarn online. There was a sale! In the end, I decided there was no way I was going to buy enough yarn to make a sweater until I had searched every box of yarn and made sure there was absolutely nothing here that would work.
The search began. I have my yarn all on spreadsheets and those sheets show the number of the tub where the yarn can be found but during the move, some of the yarn (a lot of it!) got separated from the tubs and now it’s as mess that I’m going to have to spend a lot of time getting organized again. I also have quite a bit of my yarn, especially the sweater quantity amounts, photographed.
Last night, when I should have been sleeping, I was going through spreadsheets and photos. I didn’t get very far into the search before I was 100% convinced that I have yarn here that I would love to use for this project.
Here are a few possibilities. Keep in mind that I haven’t actually seen any of these yarns lately but they are here somewhere!
This yarn is almost exactly the same as the gauge of the yarn suggested for the pattern. Also, the real color is an almost true yellow – not nearly as orange as this photo.
I love Madelinetosh DK Twist and this color is so pretty. The gauge should be really easy to match on DK Twist. It looks like I have about 17 different colors of DK Twist that would work. I am not including pictures of them all but the one below is also DK Twist.
This one, also DK Twist, is a weird, grayish, yellowish green. I may be drawn to it because I had a sweater in this color that I loved for so many years.
This yarn may have too much variegation for the design to show. I won’t know til I actually find it.
There are two colors of Miss Babs Yowza that I have that would work. I love them both. This grayish one would go with everything I wear.
I really love this color. This is one of those yarns that I’ll likely never use because then I would no longer have it in my stash, even though it’s still a color I can get through Miss Babs.
There are 8 other colors in Wollmeise DK that would work too. I love the tight twist of Wollmeise. This blue makes me feel happy.
I’m really happy I didn’t order yarn for this project. I need to get in the habit of “shopping the stash” before ordering yarn. The funny thing is that as I was thinking about yarn possibilities, before I started searching, I felt like DK was the one weight I might be low on in the stash. Not so! It looks like I could use DK weight exclusively for years and not run out.

That sweater in Ghoulish would be so fun.

I vote for the seaglass color and I would make it a tunic length. If you have some slim leg jeans or leggings, you could wear it around the house and be so comfy! BTW, I have some leggings that are indoor wear only or are worn under jeans on really cold days!

That’s a really nice pattern, but I would want it to be a few inches longer, too. Maybe even 3 or 4! It looks pretty short.

Definitely! I plan to make it longer. That’s a very easy fix.
