Many years ago, and as you read this, you’ll realize how many years ago it was, I had a recipe or brownies with a candy coating on top. Then I lost the recipe and really, for many, many years, I’ve searched for this recipe. Last night while wandering through various recipe sites and cooking blogs, I came across a recipe for Praline Brownies and that is the recipe I’ve been looking for. I haven’t made them yet but I’m sure it’s either exactly the same or very close to the same.
You know that Vince and I met on the internet and neither of us can remember exactly when it was but it had to be in very late (like December) 1994. Then, it was early Fall 1995 when we met in person for the first time. There were several obstacles . . mostly me being afraid to fly from Louisiana to Georgia to meet someone for the first time, Vince getting frustrated with me and telling me to go fly a kite . . basically . . not those exact words. I think it was in October of 1995 that I came up with the idea that instead of one of us flying and then us being stuck with each other for several days if we didn’t like each other, we could each drive our own cars and meet halfway somewhere. We’d each have our own room, and could leave if we wanted so we did that. We met in Florida and I made these brownies and brought them!
We never got around to even cutting the brownies! We were only together for a weekend and we were busy. Long walks on the beach, eating out, we went to several museums and forts. By the time we’d get back to the hotel, we had eaten, were full and tired.
Through the years, I’d mention that I wish I had that brownie recipe and we’d both laugh because we never cut into the pan of brownies I brought.
Once the chocolate pie is all gone, I’m going to try this recipe!

But you don’t care for chocolate. I hope the brownies are as good as the memories.

I will eat one or two brownies so I’ll probably half the recipe. I will eat a couple of pieces of chocolate pie. It’s things like chocolate candy, ice cream, milk, the chocolate chips in cookies I don’t like. It may be more of the greasy texture of chocolate. I don’t know. I do like Almond Joys once in a while. I’m not sure what it is. I would die before I’d eat an Oreo or an M&M. I suppose I should say I don’t like ALL chocolate, but some chocolate I do like. The old timey hard fudge . . I could eat that all day!

So, what happened to the brownies?

Cute story! Glad you found each other!

Me too! Without us having found each other, I would never have moved to Brownwood and would never have met you! 🙂
