We have two printers in MO. One was the printer from the sewing room. We’ve never used it with a Chromebook. Vince hooked the printer up but it will not work with the Chromebook. Google is not going to be supporting Cloud Print as of December 1 (I think Vince said), which is what we had been using with the printer in the house so there’s really no reason to mess with setting it up here but Vince spent several hours trying and could never get the printer to work.
The other printer we have here is one that is “air print” capable, which is what I need to print from the iPad but probably not the Chromebook. Even though that printer was new in a box we had never opened, there was no ink in it so Vince ordered ink and we’ll wait for it to arrive.
I have my desktop here but no desk. We’ll go to Sam’s and Office Depot some time soon and try to find a desk. We went in September but with back to school, there were hardly any desks to be found. I have in mind what I want but apparently, with so many of the desks coming from China and other places besides the U.S., they’re hard to find now. I suppose concrete blocks and a piece of plywood might have to work! 🙂
We all have all kinds of pieces (printers, computers, tablets, notebooks) but none of the pieces seem to fit this puzzle.
I don’t need to print often but when I do, I want a printer that works! Right now, that seems like I’m asking for a lot.

I love my small laser printer because I don’t print often either and the darn ink cartridges don’t dry up. I was always buying new ink even though I hadn’t used it very much. The laser solved that problem – less costly to operate which means more money for yarn, etc.
Judy Laquidara says
That’s probably what we need to do because of the ink drying out between uses.

I bought a new laptop last Christmas while in AZ and I’ve had unrelenting printer troubles! The printer prints from my iPad, Michael’s laptop, Michael’s android tablet, but it tells me “printer offline” and it’s NOT offline. GRRRR! My printer in MT works fine with this newer laptop.

You might try ikea on line for a desk they have lots of options

that is exactly why I got rid of my printer. If Need something printed, I either email it to one of my kids to print for me, or put it on a flash drive and take it to the library to print. its a pain ….. but I can’t see paying for the ink and the printer for as infrequent as I use it.

Judy, Wayfair has tons of desks and quite a few in the clearance category.
Printers are so frustrating. My biggest frustration? Buy a new printer, ink included. Time to replace ink cartridges? More expensive than a new printer 🙁

don’t knock cinderblocks and plywood… just add a beanbag chair and you’re living in my first studio apartment!
patti says
sorry elle, that was supposed to be my stand alone reply to judy.

Or buy a printer with a scanner that you love. Nine months later the company puts out a firmware update that puts the printer out of commission if you use third party ink. Five little ink cartridges cost $75 when the third party ones cost much less and did a perfectly acceptable job of printing. I will never buy anything from Epson again except photo paper. I do like their photo paper.
Judy Laquidara says
Oh, no. Vince bought an Epson today! 🙁

Overstock is also a good place to look for great deals on any type of furniture. Judy, do you know a place with good prices on ink to order from? Office Depot is so expensive. I agree, so frustrating when the printer is less money than the ink.
Madge says
Have you considered looking at a thrift store in your area for a desk? Sometimes they have nice solid wood desks that people have gotten rid of that are cheaper than can be found at a big box store.
Madge says
Should read “than what can be found” rather that “than can”.
Judy Laquidara says
With Covid, I’m not much wanting to be out shopping. I’d rather look online, find what I want and if they have it in the store, go pick it up, or order it online. I don’t want wood. I want something that’s kinda small and lightweight. There’s so much wood in this house, and I’d rather have something that isn’t wood.

a couple of saw horses and plywood would work! LOL But you do need to look for what you want. You will not be happy until you get what you want.
