This afternoon I needed a nap. The gutter guy is here cleaning out gutters and installing guards. He was right about to where the bedroom is so I figured trying to sleep in there would be impossible so I went downstairs, stretched out on the sofa with Boots. Mistake!
He wouldn’t stop licking me! He licked my arm, tried to lick my face. At first, I thought . . I’ll just let him lick my arm. He’ll get tired of it and quit but he didn’t. I kept saying NO! No Boots. Do cats ever listen? No!
I got a blanket and covered up completely. That’s when he tried to lick my face. Somehow I finally convinced him that he wasn’t going to be able to do that. We both went to sleep and slept for two hours.
I was reading online about why cats lick. According to Chewy, it can be because of stress but it also can be because he loves me. I’m going with “he loves me”. And, he hadn’t seen me in a month so I know he missed me.
He isn’t seeming stressed at all. When I went down there this afternoon, he was stretched out on the sofa on his back, sound asleep.
I was concerned about how he would react to having us around all the time but I think he’s liking it. But . . I have no idea. Cats are so weird.

How is Rita
Judy Laquidara says
She is fine. I think the frequent trips back and forth were hard on her. Her tummy issues seem to be all worked out and she’s not having any issues.
Jimi Graham says
Was she glad to have her daddy back with her?
Judy Laquidara says
I think she was. I wasn’t home when he arrived but he said she kept wanting to lick him on the face.

You just have a very personable cat, who likes people! 🙂 Just enjoy! 🙂

I am sure he is loving having you around and I am pretty sure he really missed you!

My cat isn’t a licker. However, if I have fleece pants on or put a fleece blanket over my legs, she is on my lap and snuggles in. She loves to be petted when on my fleece lap 😉 Then she will snuggle in for a snooze.
Judy Laquidara says
That’s kinda funny. I can see why though. Addie loves fleece blankets. We have several and when she finds one, she takes all the covers off her bed, wraps up in that blanket like a mummy and that’s how she sleeps.

Boots is definitely feeling at home and is loving being back with you. The licking is one of the ways that our pets mark us as part of their family. Cats also rub their scent on you with their face and body (like the weaving between your legs), so know that he is happy to have found you again.

Well cats are cats. And yes when they lick you they are getting your scent down showing you you are theirs . They will know you now anywhere. Don’t try to understand them it won’t happen. They do show love in so many ways. I’m sure he is so glad to be with you all day in and day out. I’m so glad he got up on couch and slept with you too. That is just the beginning of new things to come. Keep reading they like to be warm too. between 86 and 92 degrees. Your head is the warmest part of your body so don’t be surprised if he doesn’t crawl up and sleep on it.That is also why they sleep in windows and in the sun.

Boots has lived in the sewing room since Day and it stays about 72 in there in the summer and about 65 in the winter. It’s probably going to be about the same here.
