It’s amazing when you move into a house, even though everything is fine by someone else’s standards, there’s always so much to be done. I’m not complaining about the house . . I know that when our house in Texas sells, there will be all kinds of things the new owners will want to do. I had wanted to do some things, and some of them we planned to do, some of them Vince said NO . . but I guess that’s all part of making it your own.
This house had gutters full of leaves so today we have a guy here cleaning them out and putting gutter guards on.
I’m not sure he’s going to get this job finished today. Maybe he isn’t planning on finishing it today . . that’s all between him and Vince. He’s so neat though. He has big leaf bags and he’s putting all the debris in the bags and will haul it off with him.
He’s also going to reseal the deck once we have a few dry days.
Vince has gone to town. Any excuse will do for him but today he wanted to get stain to touch up some things that got scratched during the move and where he moved hinges on the entertainment center. I needed a couple of things from the grocery store — really — just milk and eggs. I’m betting he comes in with bags and bags of stuff. He told me he wanted to stop by Dollar Tree. Having so many shopping places nearby may be trouble! 🙂

We are the same way, so many projects! Aside from the things that HAD to be done, like replacing knob and tube wiring and mold remediation, we’ve replaced the HVAC system, added a mini-split to the attic room, added lighting to the garage and yard, replaced the kitchen floor and the carpeting on the stairs and in the attic (we put the same flooring in the attic as the kitchen, it had really ugly, filthy carpet!) and there are so many more projects we want to do! I know there was a ton of stuff our old house needed that we didn’t want to do…I wonder if they’ve done any of it?
So, are you getting any knitting time now that Vince is there?
Judy Laquidara says
Between spending time with Boots and Vince and going somewhere every day with him . . not getting much done at all. Plus I’m tired. He gets up 4 or 5 times a night and every time he gets up, Rita thinks it’s time to get up so I have coax her into going back to sleep. With the interruptions throughout the night, all I want to do during the day is sleep but so far, I haven’t even been able to do that.
Today Vince went to town by himself while I stayed home and tried to pick up the house a bit and make a pie for tomorrow.

I hope you’ll let us know how the leaf guards work out. I’ve been pestering to have them installed, but my husband is a stubborn old man, He thinks it’s better for him to get on the ladder and climb up to the second floor (3rd floor in the back of the house).
Judy Laquidara says
On the back side, ours is three stories too and there’s no way Vince is getting on a ladder that tall at his age. I’m not sure these have ever been cleaned out. The leaves are pretty impacted in there so I’m not sure how long it’s been since they were cleaned out.

It is not just our age. My 38 yr old nephew fell 14ft from roof about a month ago and is still feeling the aches and pains. His friend ran over and tried to help him up and he said “No, just let me lie here awhile.” I might have to be there for days.

So glad you are getting this done. Vince does not need to be on a tall ladder, he needs to hire this done. I hope the leaf guards means you never have to clean them. So glad things are working out for you!
Judy Laquidara says
I don’t even have to ask him to stay off ladders. He won’t get on them unless they’re very short ladders. I think that’s what the gutter guards mean. We’ve had them other places but never lived in one spot for more than a few years so I don’t even know how long they last.
