I have gone back and forth about what advent calendar to get for Addie this year. I’ve done Barbie, LOL Dolls, Disney little books and one year I came up with all the little gifts myself, wrapped them and attached numbers. Nothing I found online really struck me as what I wanted to buy.
I could have sworn that Addie told me her other grandma was getting her a Barbie advent calendar. Addie has become a big Harry Potter fan. I have never read the books and never been a fan but Chad, Nicole, Nicole’s sister – they’re all big fans so that explains Addie’s Harry Potter enthusiasm.
Very early yesterday morning I was looking online, trying desperately to find the right one for her, and saw where I could order a Harry Potter advent calendar and it would arrive today. Doubtful since my Miss Babs yarn still hasn’t arrived . . but hope springs eternal. So, I ordered it.
On the way home from the farmers’ market yesterday morning, Addie said “I’m so excited about the advent calendar Nana got me. Did I tell you it’s Harry Potter?” What?? I said “I thought she was getting you a Barbie advent calendar!” Addie said “No! It’s Harry Potter.”
When we got home, I rushed into the house, got online to cancel the order and it had already been shipped. Ughh! Addie was still talking about Nana’s advent calendar. She said “It’s Lego and it has a piano.” OH! I saw that one but that’s not the one I got her. The one I got her has little people. I think it’s just people but it definitely isn’t Lego.
I think, considering her Harry Potter craze right now, she’ll be happy to have two related advent calendars. So glad I didn’t get the same one her other grandma got.

Love the Harry Potter movies and books. Find out which is her favorite on the Harry Potter series (Slithering, Hufflepuff etc houses) and knit her an original scarf. There is butter beer recipes out there for kids and so many other things Harry Potter. My granddaughters are still into the books and the author. Yep Im a fan as well !

I need to read the books too I guess. I did find a little blanket/wall hanging I may try to make for her.

You do know there is a Harry Potter knitted scarf don’t you?? That would be a good gift for her! I think it is either orange and gold or something like that. If I come across it again, I will send you the link. It was a free pattern.
