Last night I was knitting. Addie was on the sofa playing with dolls.
For Thanksgiving, Chad, Nicole, Addie, Nicole’s mom and dad are all coming here. I told Addie that her Nana and Papa were coming for Thanksgiving and she was happy. I then told her that she was off school Wednesday before Thanksgiving and I asked her if she wanted to come here on Wednesday and help me cook. I told her we can make pies, stir up the roll dough, season the turkey, make green bean bundles.
She was thinking about it and then she smiled and said “You can add your love; I’ll add my love, we’ll blend all our love into the food!”
Sometimes it’s so hard to keep from laughing at her, especially all the drama she puts into some of those statements.

Your previous post was about making cabbage rolls. I remember doing that with my Mom – it took many pans, was messy, but fun. One time, I took a picture of my mom with the ingredients as she starting to tell me about the finer details of the process. I still have the enameled pan that we used for baking the rolls. I’ll try the instant pot options, but I’ll never get rid of that pan.
So, I hope you start writing up a favorite family recipe book, complete with pictures of the two of you cooking, baking, spinning, sewing and having fun.

So nice to have those memories! I should do something like that. Thanks!

Liz has the perfect suggestion! You really should make up a cookbook for Addie with all the pictures of you two together (and with her other grandparents this Thanksgiving) It would definitely be something she’d treasure her whole life!!!
And if every parent/grandparent made a book of all the funniest things their kids/grandkids say growing up, there would be enough of them to last us all our entire lives. They really do say the funniest things, especially when they are being totally serious! 🙂

Precious!

That was a very sweet thing to say. She is precious. That could be a caption under one of your cooking together pictures.
