Living so close to town is maybe not a good thing. It’s so easy to run to town for things I need or want.
This morning I had to get the oil changed. It was past due and I never let that happen. The girl we like at the bank recommended a place, which happens to be near the donut shop I like, but I didn’t go there, but it’s also close to a Walmart Neighborhood Market. This is the first time I’ve lived near a Neighborhood Market and my feeling, after only going there twice is that a lot of people who think they’re a bit above the “normal” Walmart crowd shop at the Neighborhood Market and there are some really high and mighty folks that seem to be in that store the two times I’ve been there. I’m done going there. I’m just as close to a real Walmart and, not that I’m a big fan of some of the Walmart shoppers there, nor am I a big fan of some shoppers I see in lots of places, but I feel more at home at the regular Walmart. There . . I feel better. I’ve never liked people who think they’re better than others and I feel smothered by those type of people in that Neighborhood Market.
Mostly I needed Napa Cabbage for my kimchi and the other Walmart didn’t add it to my grocery order because it was out of stock so . . I had to go in the Neighborhood Market to get it but I went in, got it, realized how much I didn’t like that store, got a couple of other things that the other Walmart might not have had, left and went to the other Walmart. Two Walmarts in one day . . could be a record, mainly because I’ve never lived where there were two Walmarts. Actually, I just googled Walmart and there are three Super Centers and 3 Neighborhood Markets within about 11 miles of me. I don’t even know where all those stores are . . nor do I need to know but there’s also one about 12 miles away in Carthage and one about 25 miles away in Pittsburg, KS. Walmarts everywhere!
The oil change place . . not the best oil change place . . not sure what I thought about it. I sat down to knit, told myself I was going to find a different place for the next oil change and about the time I knitted just a few stitches, they were done. Gave me a great explanation of everything they did. They added 4 pounds of air in each tire to get them up to “winter levels”. I’ve lived in Texas so long I forgot that we put more air in the tires during winter. The people were super nice . . maybe I will go back or if I’m lucky, Vince will be here by then and he can take care of the oil changes. I don’t mind doing the oil changes . I probably won’t have to do them much now that I’m not going back and forth to Texas so much.
I have a roast in the crock pot. I love Mississippi Pot Roast and Vince does too so I’ll eat some tonight, then put the rest in the freezer for when he’s here. I need to get at least 10 meals in the freezer so when he’s here, and we work all day unpacking and setting things up, we won’t be tempted to go out to eat because we’re tired AND hungry.
Now . . I’m knitting so I can finish Quicksilver today!

Careful, Vince reads this and he’ll start thinking you’ll leave the house with him every day twice a day! 😉

I think about that every time I write about leaving the house or ordering yarn! 🙂

I was kind of excited to go to the Walmart Neighborhood store here when we first moved back to the area because it was smaller and I could grab and go. I don’t really shop at Walmart store or the neighborhood store or any grocery store….I usually stock up at Aldi’s when we go there and shop at Sam’s for most groceries.
Then I found out later that the neighborhood store is a bit higher than the same items at Walmart. I had assumed (incorrectly) that the price would be the same.

Today, I thought the prices were higher there but didn’t bother to investigate since I don’t plan to go back. You know I love Aldi but the one here is wall to wall people no matter what time of day I go. The last time I went, I had to drive around the parking lot three times to find a parking spot. There’s an Aldi about 12 miles from here. I’ve been once and it was just as crowded. There’s another one about 25 miles from here and it’s been closed for remodeling. I tend to think it would be less crowded but that seems like a long way to go so . . it’s Walmart for me these days.

I have not been to any Walmart since March! I don’t go very many places now.

I’ll never go back to my nearby Valvoline for an oil change. I went there, and they took a long time, saying they needed to go get a part. A week later, I noticed an oil puddle. Since I was going to the dealer anyway, for another reason, I asked them to check it, and they said Valvoline had re-used the old gasket on the plug, or maybe used the wrong gasket, anyhow, it didn’t fit. And I had to pay to get that fixed.
