I can’t win. I went downstairs today and unpacked at least 10 boxes. Not all were jars of food – some were things for the kitchen, a few were things for the sewing room. I’m stacking sewing room stuff in either the sewing room closet or the extra bedroom (downstairs) closet because I don’t want to contribute to the mess that’s in there already or we’ll never get things set up.
I got all the boxes that I showed this morning unpacked. It was all the cushions for the dining room and breakfast room chairs, the shower curtain for downstairs, along with the rod and hangers but I ordered a chrome rail and hangers. There’s a white rail down there already, that I’d never noticed, and the fixtures are gold . . not my doing, but that’s what it is so I guess I need to get new hangers for the shower curtain, or just put the chrome ones up and pretend I don’t notice that they don’t go with the fixtures. There was also a shower thing to hang over the shower head to keep “stuff” in. There was something else and I can’t remember what that was now.
Just as I sat down to knit, about 3:30 p.m. and it was the first time I really sat down, I heard something at the front door, looked up and saw the Fed Ex truck. I didn’t get up but the guy made a couple of trips to the door so I went to see what all he had brought . .
Everything for Boots. Litter box and litter. Vince is supposed to bring food. I wasn’t sure if he had enough to last til he came here so I had a couple of bags sent to him – enough to get free shipping.
I’m all set. All I need is Boots. 🙂

If you are going to use a new litter box for Boots you might want to have Vince bring up some soiled litter from his old box just so he knows it’s his and that’s where he is to go in the future. Will be enough upsetting just moving for him I would think.
Judy Laquidara says
I don’t think Vince would do that but I can ask.
Rebecca says
I don’t think Vince will be happy with “All I need is Boots” 😀
I’ve forgotten…have you rehomed Cat?
Judy Laquidara says
No. That’s easier said than done.
Nelle Coursey says
He will be there before you know it! Is Cat still hanging around?
Teri says
What happened to cat….
Judy Laquidara says
Nothing. She stays in Texas.

It is so funny to hear you talk about Boots.I remember when he first appeared. You didn’t like cats really. You were afraid of them if I remember correctly. Now you love him dearly. That is how cats are really. They get under your skin and are completely different from a dog. Yes we love our dogs but not the way we love our cats. I’m so glad you bought him to new house. Wish somehow you could have brought Cat too. But understand he /she if ferrel. Hope someone takes to him like you two did.
Judy Laquidara says
We have a feeder that will put out a prescribed amount of food each day at the same time and it is supposed to hold enough food for 10 days. Vince is getting Cat used to that and we have a pet sitter that will come by once a week (for a fee) and refill it and her water containers. Of course, we may be feeding every raccoon and feral cat in the county by the time the house sells but that’s about the best we can do for Cat. Vince will fix her up a spot to sleep, safe from the wind and rain. He will leave his pickup there, under the carport, til the house sells and she will have that to sit on. I hate leaving her but there’s no way she would last where we live now and, after learning how temperamental cats are when it comes to changing their habitat, leaving her is the best thing we can do. I feel bad that we taught her to be dependent on us but . . we have a life to live too and staying in Texas for a cat didn’t make any sense.
Yes, I was afraid of cats. I had been attacked by a cat as a young adult (my own cat!) and had to make a trip to the ER and had stitches in two places on my arm. I do love Boots but he’s an easy to love cat. I can’t stand cats that meow and rub up against you. Boots doesn’t do that. I’ll always prefer a dachshund but at our ages, living where there’s snow and ice, not having to go out, especially in the middle of the night to take a dog out . . cats make more sense, along with being able to leave them at least long enough to go to the grocery store without coming home to a mess . . I hope!
