It’s funny in a very odd way but the temp in Brownwood was one degree lower than here in MO this morning. Vince said there’s ice on the clothesline and ice in all the trees and the power is out there. He called me on the computer because he had lost his phone and needed me to call it. I said “How are you using the internet?” I had forgotten we have 24 hour battery backup on the internet there.
Here in MO, there were icicles hanging from the metal table on the deck and a few on the trees but they were short and are melting. The driveway was wet but I guess the ground was warm enough to keep it from freezing last night. I never looked at the front steps.
I did read that Abilene and San Angelo, TX both recorded their earliest snowfall ever. It’s going to be funny . . again in an odd way . . if the winter is worse in Texas than in MO this year. Maybe that’s one way to get Vince here!

Did your phone call to his phone work? Did Vince find his phone??
Judy Laquidara says
Yes, I called and yes, he found his phone.

Hope the power is restored fairly quickly in the Texas house.

In Albuquerque, in town, we had 5″ of snow on the ground last night at bedtime and woke up to 2-3″ more this morning. It is early for snow here but It is so pretty and will melt quickly. I saw there is lots of ice in Texas and Oklahoma. Hope Vince’s power comes back on soon!

Yup – lots of ice. I have many branches down and I might end up losing some trees. I was outside checking on one in the front yard and decided that I was probably standing in the wrong place. And then, I heard the sound of ice falling off some leaves and then the crack and whooosh as the limb fell just where I had been standing. I’m not even checking the back yard since I can see the limbs are down but more are falling. I suspect that the city will have special limb pickup since there will be so much debris. They canceled trash pickup but that will give me an extra day to pick up the small limbs.
The weird thing, I was waiting for the fall leaf cleanup for the guys to trim up some trees. If you stand outside, you can hear what sounds like gunfire in the distance – limbs falling.
A second round is coming,. I went to check the city outage map, but the map has its own outage. I’m just seeing flickers every now & then. I’m hoping that the temps get above 34 so we have rain and not the freezing rain.

Oh, goodness. I hope your power doesn’t go out. Vince said power there was out but came back on around 2.

I also like a cool house to sleep, with lots of quilts. I think the weight of the blankets help me sleep better.
There was one big branch that fell down, but was still propped up against the tree. I couldn’t budge it yesterday. No problem with it today – another branch fell on top of that one and everything came crashing down.
I plan on heating up water to fill my thermos – I can always make some tea and oatmeal if the power goes out. I need to find my little solar panel that I can use to charge the kindle, phone and various flashlights. Hmm, I better go do all that now….
