Black Truffle Mushrooms

I love these things! I buy the black truffle salt and could just about eat that by itself. I found these dried black truffles and they arrived today.

I’m going to try to crumble some of them, add them to sea salt and see if that’s close to what I’m buying. The 1 oz. bag of mushrooms was about $15 and the 1 pound of black truffle salt is about $30, though in the five years I’ve been ordering this salt, the price has never gone up.

The real reason I ordered the black truffles is to make a black truffle butter sauce for fresh pasta. There are numerous recipes and I haven’t decided which one I’ll use but the mushrooms arrived today so . . maybe . . tomorrow I’ll make pasta and can try it.

This is something that the average person wouldn’t get excited about but . . I’m the weird one who will probably get up in the morning very early and start pasta so I can try this tomorrow.
