Rhinebeck is a fiber/yarn festival in NY and I have wanted to go for so many years. My problem (which really isn’t a problem at all) is that I wouldn’t go alone. Vince’s brother lives near there so if we went together, he could also visit his brother. But . . if we went together, he’d have an idea of what I buy and therefore, I’m never going to Rhinebeck!
This year, the huge Rhinebeck festival didn’t happen because of Covid but many vendors got together and did an online version, including special Rhinebeck colors of yarn and special Rhinebeck . . well . . specials!
I’ve mentioned before how much I love Miss Babs’ yarn. I love her as a person (what I know of her), I love how nice and helpful the staff are and I love the yarn. I didn’t need to think twice when I saw the Miss Babs special Rhinebeck colorways, which arrived yesterday.
Before we get into yarn talk . . don’t you love my little turkey salt and pepper shakers?
The purple in the middle is not a Rhinebeck colorway. It’s Fig, which is really close to the perfect purple for me. It’s a bit reddish, pinkish, grayish violet (not as purple as it looks in the picture). A number of years ago I made a sweater using this color in a heavier weight yarn but Miss Babs has a new base called Sonatina, which they say “available for a limited time only”. You know what that does to us collectors of anything – we buy it while we can. The yarn is 75% superwash merino/25% nylon but it is “lofty” and I love that for shawls, scarves, cowls, etc.
I bought each of the Rhinebeck colorways in Sonatina also.
This color is Apple Season and it has much more pink/deep pink, and less reddish pink than the photo shows.
This one is also Sonatina and the color is Virtual Iris. So pretty!
Yowza is probably my all time favorite yarn and I bought that in Virtual Iris too.
Knit faster, Judy . . knit faster! And whatever you do . . never pack up the yarn and move again! 🙂

I bought the Applewood in Yowza. I love Miss Babs yarn too. Not sure what I’m going to use it for yet, but that never stops me from adding to the stash.

I’m wishing I had gotten Applewood in Yowza too but . . I was trying to show a little restraint.

Oh-I wish I knitted . I love all those color combos.

Rhineback is such a fun event- and I only knit a little. We always enjoy the food vendors, and admire all the handknits worn to the show. It’s about an hour away from me, but we try to go each year it’s held.

I totally agree with Jo Frey, I would go every year, it was about a 3 hr drive for me, and it seemed like it was always the perfect fall weekend. Well almost..lol..there were a few times that it was cold and damp, but what better place to be, surrounded by fiber. I bought my spinning wheel from there one year. If you ever get a chance to go,do it…you wouldn’t regret it, and there is plenty of things for Vince to try as well. If I remember correctly, the last time that I went they had all sorts of food vendors too, along with wine…
I moved to NC a few years ago so haven’t been in a while.

I hope now you can keep your yarn where it is near and you can get to it easily. It will be so great to have all your things for sewing and knitting in the same area. And you are going to be knitting for a long time. So there is no reason for you to not buy yarn. You have done a lot of work by yourself these last few weeks and you deserve a gift to you.

I have done a lot of work. Nicole looked at the downstairs today and I think she was shocked at how much I had gotten done. What I really need to do is spend a day unpacking the boxes I don’t want to unpack – the ones that just have a mix of everything and I really don’t know where to put most of the stuff . . which probably means it should go in the trash!

I do not knit but, those colors are great and looks soft. And next festival GO! Do like my mother would do me. Get away from me and stay ‘lost’ til she was ready to go.lol
