Rita does not like the cold. The last time we went out last night, it was in the low 40’s but felt like 32. It wasn’t raining but it was a bit windy. She had on her sweater but I’m not sure how much warmth it gives her. Better than nothing for sure.
I put her down on the ground and she’s doing her business the minute those little feet hit the ground and then ready to be picked up and carried back inside. She loves her big bed in the breakfast room and I think that’s part of why she’s waking me up so much at night. The bassinet is much smaller and the bed in there isn’t nearly so thick and comfy.
I may start trying to leave her in the breakfast room at night and not even put her in the bassinet. At least I’ll get more sleep!

Rita looks like a little Halloween pumpkin in her warm sweater.

We got a heating pad for our warm-weather dog that hates NY winters – the one we have only warms up when the dog is on it (based on the pressure from the dog) so it doesn’t stay hot all the time. Would that help her?

Did You knit Rita’s sweater? It is so cute. If you did, can you please tell me what the pattern is. I have a little terrier just about that size.

The pattern is For Cable Dog Sweater and yes, I did knit it several years ago.

It is funny but since we have been having to put Quincy in his crate at night due to the torn ACL, he has accepted it completely now. He even goes in there without us telling him to. He is such a sweet boy. I think we only have about 3 more weeks to go and I don’t know if he will want to go upstairs again! I think he likes it down here. He does have a bed upstairs but he is not supposed to climb stairs right now.

Speck was always crate trained and if I got my purse or put on perfume (back when I did that), he knew I was leaving the house and he would go into his crate. Same at night. I’d say “Let’s go to bed” and he would get in his crate. Rita arrived at our house scared to death of the crate so I don’t know if she had a bad experience in it but I never pushed it because of the panic level when we put her in there.

Do you think she would tolerate the little doggie shoes for winter?
