Yesterday Chad and Nicole went shopping in Joplin. They wanted to go a few places without Addie so they called to see if that was ok. Yep . . fine with me. They came by a little after 3 and got her. They needed to let her pick out a heavy winter coat so they left my house about 4 to go do that. The minute they leave and I walk back in, this house seems so empty but I got busy, got a few things done and then sat down to knit.
I had mentioned before that I got her a Barbie house for her birthday. We started out with it downstairs. The food storage room has tile floors. The Barbie house has a pool . . that Addie fills with water. I was thinking that she would play with the Barbie house in the basement while I was in the sewing room just across the hall but, of course, I haven’t spent any time in the sewing room yet and have no idea when it may be set up for sewing.
She played with it some down there but wanted to be up where we were so we moved it into the sun room. It stayed in there for a few weeks but I told her that I think it’s getting too much sun and that’s not good for all the plastic pieces on the house so this weekend, we moved it into her bedroom. I told her that she’s been very careful with the water and I haven’t seen her spill any but I want to put a puppy pad under the Barbie house when there’s water in the pool.
She’s such a funny girl. There are plenty of quilts (too many) in this house. I told her to pick out what she wanted for her bed. She went through them, took one and when I went in there, this is what I saw. I said . . “Why do you have the back side of the quilt on top?” and she said “I like that side better!” OK! If that makes her happy, it makes me happy.

My second kiddo (will be 3 in February) only wants the backing on his quilt up – “I want birds, mommy!” At least he likes part of it, I guess.

Addie with her quilt back-side-up is so sweet! That girl knows her mind.

She has a mind of her own! Maybe she is saving the other side.

I love that she wants to use the back of the quilt. My kids really only like minkee backed quilts and really prefer minkee blankets instead. Oh well, I still enjoy piecing them.

Yes, I think it’s good that she voices her opinion. If my grandma had made something for me, I would probably have pretended I loved it as it was and never mentioned using the “wrong” side. Addie seems to not be afraid to speak her mind but she definitely gets that from her dad.
