I feel like I got a lot done today. So much had been piled on the dining room table but that’s all cleaned off now. Addie wanted to play Clue this morning. I told her to let me get all the boxes in the dining room unpacked and we’d play two games, then I’d get the boxes in the living room unpacked, clean off the dining room table and we would play two more games.
There were maybe 10 boxes left in the dining room. One had kitchen marked out and said “sewing machine” so I didn’t open that one. Two said “drawers” and I remember that I pulled out the drawers and dumped them into the boxes. I’m not ready to tackle those yet so I took them to the laundry room closet. There are things in there I don’t want to get rid of but don’t use a lot. Not real sure what I’m going to do with all that stuff but I don’t have the drawer space in the kitchen for that. I did have three deep and wide drawers in Texas but I was very short on cabinet space. Here, I have adequate drawers if I didn’t have too much stuff but I have plenty of cabinets.
We played two games of Clue on the breakfast room table but it was kinda crowded. Then I unpacked the boxes in the living room. There were only four and one of those should have been in the sewing room so I took it downstairs. The I cleaned off the table and we played two more games of Clue.
She wanted to make brownies this afternoon so we did that and she licked the bowl!
I let her decide if she wanted to use a square pan or the Brownie Bites pan and she chose the Bites pan.
She didn’t want to wait for them to cool before having a couple so I managed to get a few of them out of the pan without totally ruining them.
I made dog food for Rita and the Spicy Thai Cabbage Soup but didn’t put the cabbage in yet. I’ll do that just before it’s time to serve it – probably Monday because I don’t think Addie would like that at all.
Not even sure what I’ll fix for lunch tomorrow. I hadn’t planned on having her this weekend and hadn’t bought groceries for Addie approved meals. Today we had sandwiches and soup for lunch and hamburgers for dinner but I only had one pound of ground beef here. Chicken is about all I have here . . oh, I think I have some chicken breasts already breaded that I can heat up in the air fryer. That’s what we’ll do! I do not want to go out tomorrow!

Great incentive! Do your chores then play with your granddaughter! Sounds like great progress so far.

Sound like you and Addie have lots of fun together. Maybe she’d enjoy the blow up hot tub during the warmer months! :0) Just a thought. Have you considered paring down some of your stuff, household, sewing, yarn, etc. to give to charities that are collecting items for the hurricane victims? I remember there was a group collecting sewing supplies, including sewing machines for people who needed to start over after the Paradise, CA fires and they were very grateful for the donations. It’s so hard for me to let go of stuff, but when I know it will be appreciated, it makes it so much easier.

If you don’t have drawer space, but have cupboard space, how about sorting your extras into plastic bins that you can store in the cupboard. (Like the shoebox size bins or slightly bigger if larger items.) If you label the bins you could just pull out the bin when you use an occasionally used item. My daughter-in-law is a baker and does special cakes and cookies. She keeps all her extra baking supplies in plastic bins and stores them in the closet space below the stairs. She has a large kitchen, but still not enough space for all her professional baking supplies.

Don’t blame you!
