I don’t even know what to say or where to start. There is so much stuff.
About 3:00, the movers said they might leave the U-Haul truck at the house overnight and come back today and unload it. I was hoping they would do it all and not come back today. Then later in the day, they told me they were going to unpack it and not have to come back. It made for a super long day for all of us . . more so for them because they were working hard. But that load has been delivered.
I really thought that the main level garages were going to be full of boxes but not a single box ended up in those garages. The downstairs garage is a mess. It has two smokers and the big kamado grill, along with exercise equipment, lawn mowers, weed eater, leaf blower . . lots of stuff! Oh . . about 30 – 12 packs of Dr. Pepper are in that room too.
The sewing room is a total disaster. Every single box that said “basement” went in there. I’m sure about 85% of the boxes are for the sewing room but it’s wall to wall boxes and I can’t even do anything in there for all the boxes!
I’ll come up with a plan . . not sure what or how . . but I’ll figure it out.

Judy,
It must be exciting to have many of your belongings now at your new home but overwhelming at the same time. Some people might wonder what they will do in the coming weeks/months if the virus should get worse but you have a clear idea. Did the movers enjoy the delicious looking chili you made for them? I’m sure they were appreciative. Good luck with the unpacking.

They seemed appreciative. Yes, it’s a LOT to get done but I’ll get it all done. Yes, we try to stay ready for whatever life may throw at us, whether it’s a food shortage, sickness (though a real pandemic was never in the realm of what I considered might really happen). That’s just how we live though.

My heart goes out to you, wish I was there to help you, I’m a great un-packer!

Obviously I was a terrible packer but I actually love unpacking. Vince kept saying “I don’t want to pay to move things so throw out what you don’t want” but it’s much easier for me to get rid of stuff at the new location as I look for places to put things and realize . . I don’t really need this any more.
I actually like unpacking, and kinda taking inventory of what I have, finding things I knew I had but hadn’t seen in a while. I won’t get it all done quickly but I’ll enjoy the process and some day, it will be all unpacked.

Enjoy your unpacking! I don’t envy you. 🙂

I guess you didn’t label each room clearly to match the labels on the boxes….so the movers would have put all the boxes labeled “basement” in the room labeled “basement.” Maybe make labels for the next truck and movers…..
Judy Laquidara says
Don’t go blaming me! 🙂
Every box says “Food Storage” (or whatever room it goes in), then it says “Basement” because we had thought they might put all the basement stuff on one truck and all the main level stuff on another. Early in the day, they did put things in the right rooms . . somewhat. One of the first boxes I saw in the sewing room said “Kitchen” (and there’s only one kitchen), and that box was left in the sewing room. There are boxes that say “Front Bedroom”. They do not say basement and they’re in the sewing room.
They mostly came through the sewing room, saw a spot and that’s where it got dropped. I’m not complaining. They did an amazing amount of work and I know they were exhausted by the time they left.
