I keep telling myself . . this ain’t bad! There are folks other places with real disasters, and, this is a disaster of our own making! 🙂
My plan was to not even go downstairs today, although the upstairs doesn’t look so great either.
The kitchen is filled to a nice point. Cabinets aren’t bulging. I seem to have what I need to cook and get by but that pile of boxes are in the dining room and they all say “kitchen” on them. That’s a lot of stuff. One says “bread pans”. How many bread pans do I need? Definitely not a box full considering there are already some in the kitchen.
I wanted to order a new slipcover for the sofa.
This sofa is almost 30 years old, still looks brand new, is as comfortable as can be but . . those flowers! The slipcover I wanted is kinda fitted at the bottom and this sofa has a “skirt” around it. I called Sure Fit and they told me what to do (fold it under the sofa or up and pin it) but I just wanted to be sure I could actually do that so . . I had to go downstairs.
This is how the sewing room was left. I should’t complain. There’s a path! Those black and yellow tubs — not even mine! Vince told me that at the end when he realized there was room on the U-Haul, he started bring out stuff (not labeled) to go on the truck and there it all is. But, even taking all Vince’s stuff out, I still have a mess.
After checking out the sofa, I went into the food storage room and opened a few boxes. The second box I opened had the flour I use for making pasta. How lucky was that?
I brought the pasta maker with me several trips ago because I love homemade pasta but I have to clamp it to something and I’m not clamping it to the dining room table (too nice of a table and it’s on rug and I get flour on the floor). So, I decided to put the legs on the breakfast room table but I can’t pick it up by myself.
I think Chad and Nicole will be going to Joplin Friday and they’ll probably run by here and they’ll help me do that and move a piece of furniture out of the living room that I don’t want.
My legs and feet hurt from too many trips up the stairs yesterday. My elbow hurts from lifting too many boxes so really, I’m not doing much today. I’m even laying off the knitting because that sometimes makes my elbow hurt. I have to pay attention to the aches and pains and not make them worse. It’s a good day for sitting and reading.

Have you thought about the pasta making attachments for the Kitchenaid? I have them and truly love them. Easy to use and to clean. Which pasta drying rack do you have? My crew recently decided to use mine as a chew toy so I’m in need of another. Reviews on Amazon are iffy on all of them or it’s made in China. Thank you. One box at a time……or it can be overwhelming. Hang in there and don’t overdo it.

I have the pasta making attachment for the Kitchen Aid but like the other one better. My KA is old (1988 model I think) and it needs new motor brushes, which we have at the house in Texas but Vince never installed. I could have done it myself but he said he’d rather do it so I left the KA there.

I laughed because I do that all the time. Just now I went unto the bedroom to put my sandals in the closet.. I saw a picture I had been meaning to hang. Wnt to the laundry room to get a hanger and hammer and measuring tape. stopped to iron fabric because i left the iron on. Started walking to the bedroom and stopped to check email and here i am. I think its ADD.

That makes me feel so much better! 🙂

Have you opened the box labeled “bread pans” yet? If Vince packed the box, maybe the pans were the last thing he put on top and the box is really full of his stuff…
Where were you going to put the kitchen gadgets which were in the shed? If I remember correctly, you were going to put them in the garage, same level as the kitchen, to have better access to them. But, you probably need shelving and that will take Vince or Chad to help you assemble or build them.
Maybe Chad can also help with moving those Vince boxes out of the sewing room and into the tv room. I sure hope that you have a dolly to help you move boxes from one room to another.
Yup, you sure have a mini-disaster in the house!

You have a memory I can only dream of having! Yes, the kitchen things I don’t use often will go on shelves in the garage and yes, I cannot put those up by myself. Vince wants to do it because our shelves are getting older and have been taken down and put up a lot and can be a bit difficult to get right.
The TV room is full too! The dresser and nightstands that were supposed to go in the downstairs bedroom ended up in there, as well as all the grain buckets. The grain buckets were supposed to be in the downstairs garage (because it’s heated and cooled) but EVERYTHING else ended up in the downstairs garage (two smokers, the kamado grill, 30 bags of lump charcoal, lawn mower, leaf blower. The ONLY things they put in the upstairs garage were the freezer and the pizza oven. I told them in the beginning where I wanted the freezer and they asked about the pizza oven because I think they weren’t sure if it went in the kitchen.
I don’t want to really ask Chad to do anything because I don’t want him to get the idea every time he comes by, he’s going to have to spend hours helping with something. I will concentrate on the upstairs, working in the food storage room and then when Vince comes, we can tackle some of the larger, heavier projects.

You need to take it easy and do a little at a time. Hope Rita is doing ok now.
