They said they’d be here around noon and they got here just a bit after noon. I had been watching for them. Don’t ask me why, the minute they drove up, I started crying and keep wiping away a few tears.
Look at that blue sky and the leaves changing colors behind the truck. I understand that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I might not think Missouri is so beautiful except for that mom, dad and little girl about 45 minutes up the road but it’s cool and crisp outside and it’s just pretty!
These two trucks will make a second trip sometime . . that’s Vince’s call and I’m not even sticking my nose in that.
Here’s a funny story. When I left, Vince was pretty unhappy with me about my packing skills, enthusiasm, commitment . . all of it I suppose. When I left, he said “You don’t have to come back. I’ll take care of the rest.” Honestly, it’s 99% shop stuff left and I’m not sure what I would do with that but I am willing to go back if he needs or wants me to. I asked him if he was going to come to MO at all before the final move and he didn’t think so.
I left Sunday. Today is Tuesday. He called this morning and said he had called the car rental place about renting a pickup and driving some things the movers won’t bring (a few plants and I don’t even know what else). I was happy but surprised to hear him say that.
He said “I’ll help you and I’ll bring back the empty boxes so I can reuse them.” I was thinking . . week after next, there may not yet be as many empty boxes as you’re thinking and for the cost of renting a pickup for a week, I can buy two new bay leaf trees and you can by a lot of boxes. The longarm has sat unused for several years so really, no rush to get it put back together.
Then he said “I’ll bring Rita back with me!” I told him I didn’t think that was a good idea. She needs to get used to being here and I think the back and forth is hard on her. I think he thinks I’m not taking proper care of her. Bad mom!!
It’s going to be interesting to see if he really does come if he isn’t going to take Rita back with him. We’ll know who’s most important to him if he doesn’t come! 🙂
Maybe we can trade . . he takes Rita and brings Boots to me.

It’s obvious….. Vince misses you Judy! And he wants to make you happy …. and it is no fun and lonely packing alone, cooking for himself etc. Just my take on it….

He does miss me but I think he needs a bit of down time. This move has been stressful – probably more so for him than for me. I think he’s going to enjoy a few days of relaxing now that the movers are gone and the pressure is off to get enough packed to fill the two trucks.

Re tearing up at the sight of the movers – it could be either recognition of the amount of work that is facing you over the next few months or the realization that this is the beginning of the end of the Texas experience.
Depending what is still at the TX place, he could rent a u-haul cargo van, load it up and drive up. Then use it if you are buying any large things in MO for the new place. Then, take the boxes back to TX for the next load.
I vote for the Boots – Rita exchange. It sounds like Vince is missing Rita.

I know he misses you both. It is hard being separated from those you love.
