Here’s the recipe for the pumpkin gingerbread that I mentioned the other day. The post is from 2009, the image there isn’t working but here it is.
I’ve been making this recipe for over a decade. I think it’s a good one! I’ll be making it this evening for the movers, who should arrive here tomorrow or Wednesday. I’ll know more once I get a report on their loading progress. Vince was happy. They arrived right on time.
Bless his heart. I know he’s tired. I was a terrible helper. In my defense, I was also trying to keep up the laundry, keep food on the table and . . well, probably lots of other things! 🙂
He told me he could accomplish more without my help than with my help. I know I was a bad packer but, he said “FILL THE BOXES!”. How do you fill a box full of yarn so that when you put a box with a semi truck on top of it, the yarn box doesn’t cave in? Oh . . yes . . you FILL THE BOX!
Yesterday was probably the first time ever that I’ve driven down the driveway to leave town and he was happy to see me go.
Another thing, I’ll be in MO unpacking . . it isn’t like I’ll be sitting her knitting 100% of the time. 🙂
I sure liked moving a lot better when someone else showed up, told me to stay out of their way, so I sat and knitted while they packed the entire house, Vince came home from work, we went out to eat, and then I knitted some more. Those days are over! It’s a good thing I’m where I wanted to be because, I just can’t imagine moving again. The next move we make will be to assisted living and we definitely won’t be taking cute gingerbread pans, a longarm, 3 spinning wheels or 70 tubs of yarn!

What a major accomplishment you have both made. A nice dinner out when Vince arrives and a bottle of champagne or wine 🙂
Valerie Zagami says
I am amazed at you both and the great job you are doing. The excitement build every post I see. The best and smoothest days ahead.
Sara Fridley says
Best wishes on the process going smoothly for you. Knowing you feel like the MO house is “home” already probably makes it even more exciting to have that moving truck arrive this week.
Susan Nixon says
Don’t take this the wrong way, but here’s hoping you live out your lives and die at home, so there’s no assisted living move.
Judy Laquidara says
That’s exactly what I’m hoping but I do want to accept the reality that it may happen. I’d be real happy to never have to move or even pack a suitcase again!
Karen K says
My family LOVES your pumpkin gingerbread recipe! I have made it as muffins and they disappear! Those movers are in for a treat! I think of you and your beautiful loaf pans every time I make it! Thanks so much
Judy Laquidara says
That’s sweet. Thank you!
montanaclarks says
Do you really have 70 tubs of yarn???? Small tubs??? 🙂 🙂
Judy Laquidara says
I do and they are big tubs! And I’m not ordering yarn ever again . . except if I need it or if I really like it! 🙂
Sharon says
Somewhere in those tubs of yarn may be your cookie molds.
Judy Laquidara says
I’d be surprised but where ever I find them, I will be surprised because I’ve looked in all the places I would have ever guessed they could be.
Nelle Coursey says
We never really know what we have until we try to put it away or move it somewhere else! Did you mark the boxes for what room you want them to go to? That might help some.
Judy Laquidara says
That’s the truth! I did mark the boxes but who knows how much the movers will pay attention to what I put on them. Then Vince went back with some kind of color coded system to mark what goes on level 1 and what goes on level 2.
