Often – probably more often than you think, and more often than I should, I worry about posting things that may sound like I’m bragging. I don’t ever want anyone to think that so please . . don’t anyone take this post wrong. This is the point where I usually decide it isn’t worth posting and forget about it but today . . I’m going forward.
The house we bought isn’t huge. It’s probably not quite as big as the house we had in Nevada, MO. It’s definitely larger than what two “normal” old folks need but with the quilting, the yarn, Vince’s 3D printers and the things he collects, we’ll make use of the entire house. I’ve always said . . if I had a gymnasium, I’d fill it up. Plus, we do need a basement here. The main level is about what normal people would need. Three bedrooms, two baths, kitchen, dining room, breakfast room, living room, laundry room and the sun room is extra but if we didn’t have the basement, Vince would watch TV in the living room and I’d hang out in the sunroom.
One thing I’ve always said is that I prefer small bedrooms and lots of storage. We sleep in the bedrooms. We don’t go in there for watching TV, knitting, exercising – we sleep in the bedrooms. This house has fairly small bedrooms.
Addie’s room is the smallest. It has a queen bed, a dresser, an entertainment hutch type thing and one nightstand and you wouldn’t want anything else in there.
The Master bedroom has a queen bed, dresser, chest, two nightstands and Rita’s bassinet and you wouldn’t want anything else in there.
But, we have a ton of storage – so much storage that I may not even run out of places to put stuff!
The plans for all the rooms:
- Kitchen, Dining Room, Master bedroom, Laundry Room – normal – the same thing everyone does in those rooms.
- Bedroom #2 – Addie’s room.
- Bedroom #3 – Vince will set up his 3D printers and the electronic stuff he works with in there.
- Sun Room – Now it does look like Addie’s playroom. The Barbie house is in there and several other things she has moved in there. I will keep some of my plants in there this winter. Maybe in the spring, we’ll get furniture in there but it’s almost just like the breakfast room, which has a lot of windows so it may just stay Addie’s play room.
- Man Cave – That’s what the former owner called it. That’s where our only TV will be. The room is about 18 x 18 (according to my eyeball measurements)
The breakfast room is where I have a bit of room to get creative.
This room is about 9′ x 20′. The former owners had their big dining room table in there and used the dining room more as a sitting room.
The breakfast room is plenty big enough to have both leaves in the dining table and they often had big groups over so they used it. I think she told me they could comfortable seat 10 at the table with all the leaves in, 3 at the bar and 4 or 6 at a table in the sun room. That’s more dishes than I want to wash! It’s also probably more people then we’ll ever know here!
For our use of the breakfast room, I’m going to put my breakfast table in the middle under the light. My table is about 48″ x 48″ as I recall. That leaves about 8′ on each end of the room, not counting room for breakfast room chairs.
I think I’m going to put a spinning wheel on the end by the sunroom. I asked Vince if he would like a comfy chair in there where he could play on the computer. I think there will be room for him to have a chair and a little table and lamp. Rita stays in the kitchen/breakfast room/sunroom so he’ll be in there with her and he can be in there when I’m in the kitchen working if he wants to be.
I think that’s going to be a nice room and one we use often for things other than eating.

Of course you’re not bragging! You’re simply sharing your joy at finding the perfect home in the perfect spot (close to Addie) for you and Vince! I’m so tickled for you so share away!

Think about Christmas. What if Nicole’s family joined you and Chad’s family in your house? How many would you need to seat? What if you meet a bunch of knitters or quilters, and want to have them over for a knitting or quilting lunch? It will happen eventually. Have you checked out Bittersweet Quilting yet? Or how about Michael’s or JoAnn’s? I’m pretty sure I remember you going to Hobby Lobby. You could meet the best group ever right there in your Webb home!

I enjoy hearing all about your home, and I’ve gotten many good ideas from your posts. As long as you aren’t asking anyone for financial assistance, it’s no one’s business how you spend your money.

Maybe I was just fixing to ask for financial assistance! 🙂 Not really.

Of course you are not bragging! But if you were I would understand! You deserve all the nice rooms you have now and I am so happy for you. Just being close to family is good. So keep on giving us the progress reports! I love hearing from you.

I would be bragging if I were to have a house so nice. I am happy for you and glad to see your pictures. I just need to see one of your quilts hung on that red wall.
