When we were in the bank last week, the lady helping us was telling us about a really good Mexican restaurant kinda near us so today we decided to try it.
Here’s the preface to my comments: There are good Mexican restaurants in Texas – probably lots of them but Vince and I have not found one we like. We did find one in San Angelo that we loved but that’s a couple of hours away. Friends like this one and that one but we just haven’t found one we like.
In MO, first, we found the one on the way to Joplin, Chavela’s, and we really liked it. Yesterday we tried the restaurant the lady at the bank recommended – La Familia. That’s our kind of Mexican restaurant. We got the lunch special – $4.99 or something like that.
The place appeared to be clean; the people were very nice, and it’s close to home with no traffic between here and there . . just a scary bridge that may limit my going when Vince isn’t here. You could get beans or rice or both for an extra $1. You could get beef, chicken or cheese enchilada with red sauce or cream sauce. It really good!
In fact, they were just voted the best Mexican restaurant in the four state area. For those not familiar, this area is called the “four state area” because the corners of Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri all come together right here.
Now we have two Mexican restaurants close by that we like. This is a good place to call home!
