Kids Say The Funniest Things

True Love

Addie stayed with us Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Vince had to go to Pittsburg, KS to Home Depot because the Joplin Home Depot was out of something he needed so we met Nicole halfway, handed Addie off, then we went to Pittsburg.

Later last night Chad called. He was laughing but he said “What did you feed my child?” I was thinking . . chicken and noodles for lunch? Donuts for breakfast. OK . . that wasn’t the best choice but . . it is what it is. Then Chad, still laughing, said “Addie tells me you let her eat chocolate at midnight and she was able to eat all she wanted!” WHAT? That did not happen!

I had bought some little chocolate covered caramels and one evening, WAY before midnight, she asked if she could have one and I told her yes. When I went back in the kitchen, there were four empty wrappers on the counter. I asked her how many she ate and she said “four”. I said “Why did you ask for one and then eat four?” She told me . . you said “Sure! and it sounded like you didn’t care how many I ate.”

Oh, my goodness . . now I’ll always have to be very specific. Yes, Addie. You may have ONE candy.

Later that night when it was time for bed, she told me she wasn’t sleepy because she thought she ate too much chocolate. I told her fine . . stay in bed and be very quiet because we’re sleepy! She was asleep when I checked on her before we went to bed.

Where did she come up with the tale that I let her have all the chocolate she wanted . . at midnight?

For the rest of my days, I will be thankful that we have moved back closer to them and I’m able to interact and be a part of their lives so much more so than when I was 10 hours away.
