Kids Say The Funniest Things

Vince likes to live dangerously! For years I only drank Dr. Pepper with real sugar (no corn syrup). I’ve heard you can only get them in Texas but I’m not sure. Yesterday I walked outside to see three tree cutters drinking a green can (real sugar) of Dr. Pepper. Vince said “Oops!” He told them not to let me see but he was joking. He knew I didn’t really care. I had fixed chicken and noodles for lunch and asked them if they wanted to eat with us. At first they said no but the decided they would eat. I had sweet tea, unsweetened tea, water and Dr. Pepper. One of them wanted a DP with real sugar. OK . . that’s 4 down. Then we were leaving to take Addie back to Nicole and Vince handed them a 12 pack of REAL SUGAR Dr. Pepper . . that I cannot buy in Missouri. What am I going to do with him? Lock up the good stuff when he’s around?

Maybe he’s thinking if I realize I can only get real sugar Dr. Pepper in Texas, I’ll decide we should stay there. No . . he can hardly get me to go back and pack so I know he isn’t thinking that but he really may be setting me up to say “Darn, I miss those real sugar Dr. Peppers!” and he will say . . it was your choice to move from Texas.

The truth is . . I drink the Aldi brand, Dr. Thunder, and even though they have corn syrup, I like them better and I can buy them here. I just brought the 12 packs of sugar DP because I have a lot of Dr. Pepper in Texas and I’m not going to drink it all so I’ve been sticking a few 12 packs in the car as I had extra space and that’s how they ended up here.

You might have to hide your stash like you did with the chips!

I feel your real sugar Dr. Pepper pain! I usually go to Texas twice a year, and each time I buy a couple of cases. We drink it sparingly to make it last, but it’s so much better than the soda with corn syrup. I didn’t get to go this year because of Covid, and we are jonesing for our real Dr. Pepper. I’m not sure when I’ll be able to go back, but hopefully we’ll make it through.

I am going to miss those and I doubt we ever go back to that area. Can you buy them anywhere in Texas or is it just central Texas?

I was able to find it in one store in McKinney but didn’t have any luck in Austin or Kerrville. I think I only went to HEB in both of those places, so maybe another store might have it.

McKinney is “central” but so are Austin and Kerrville . . kinda. I’ve never looked for it anywhere except Brownwood but it’s easy to find there.

If it gets so bad that a one way five hour trip isn’t looking too bad you can find it at WinCo in McKinney. It’s right off 75. Let me know if you go. It would be worth the four hour drive to Joplin to pick it up. ๐Ÿ˜‰ :O

Thanks! I mostly drink the Aldi DP now.
