Since I love starting new patterns, I couldn’t help it . . I started the Itatiaia Cocoon last week.
The pattern can be purchased here. The recommended yarn is Miss Babs Yowza and, since I had some in my stash, that’s what I’m using.
The Pattern:
I’m still not exactly sure how this pattern turns into a cocoon but I’m following the pattern, knowing it will work. The pattern is very easy and for anyone who may feel a bit intimidated by a sweater, this may be a very good starting project. I’m thinking it’s just basically knit as a rectangle, then the sides are seamed and stitches are picked up along the edge for the collar, edging and ribbing but I’m not 100% sure til I get that far in the pattern.
There are two different repeats to the pattern. One is very basic – mostly ribbing and stockinette and the other is the same with a small area of easy cables. You can do this!
I’m short and a bit more fluffy than I should be so this pattern may not be super flattering but I can see myself wearing this every day – inside because we don’t use a lot of heat in the house and outside on days that aren’t terribly cold so I’m thinking there may be at least one more Itatiaia in my future knitting plans.
The Yarn:
If you have never used Miss Babs’ yarn, especially Yowza, and you’re in the market for yarn, please try it. I love this yarn. I think I’ve only used it once before but, as I try to use the stash and add only yarn that I really need (projects for which I have no yarn that will work), I think Yowza will be one of the few yarns I add.
The bobbles that are now along the edges but will be on the sleeves once it’s seamed up . . they are so fun and I look forward to each row where bobbles are added.

I have a kimono shaped overblouse that my daughter gifted me for Mother’s Day that seems to have the same shape. I have really enjoyed wearing it. I may have to try this pattern.

I can see how that would look good on you. I think you’d enjoy knitting this pattern.

I’ve knitted two shawls with Yowza, one for me and one for my daughter. I love it!
